"Me neither. Technically, she's my adopted sister, since I'm not a cat, but I always thought of her as my real sis. We always go on adventures together and we always look out for each other! But nah man, she's miss Lord Monochrime, her boyfriend, too much. That, and she's kinda dude crazy sometimes!"

She followed Kazumi down and over the small hill to the isolated quiet place, and she grinned. Man, this was already seeming like a great idea!

"Sure Kazumi!" In typical random fashion, Fionna kicked her feet up from where she was crouching and started to arrange the blanket on the ground, making sure to get a rock on each corner in case the wind kicked up.

"Oooh - wait, she's a cat?" Just what kind of world was Ooo? "Well, if she has a boyfriend, I can see why being in an all-girl land without him would be pretty bad!"

Once the blanket was set out, Kazumi set down the basket and started pulling out food. There were a variety of sandwiches, the fruit she'd just gotten from the orchard plus a fruit salad and even an egg salad. Then came the thermos of soup, the two kinds of tea, bottle of juice and one with water. Probably the only thing more mystifying than how she'd fit all of it in the basket was how she expected two people to eat that much.

"Yup, so I'm adopted of course, but yeah, she'd be real grouchy if she had to be here all surrounded by gals! It not like there's any real cat girls here anyway!"

But oh wow, that was a lot of stuff! She grinned broadly at everything. "I'm impressed dude! I can't even make a decent soup without ruining everything! Cake always had to make 'em for me! This is really cool!"

Lucky for her, Fionna could eat a lot and was REALLY hungry.

And Kazumi was just as bad, so maybe she hadn't made too much.

"Ehehe, thanks! I always cook for my friends, so getting to do it for new friends is a lot of fun," Kazumi said as she handed Fionna a plate. "Well, what would you like first? There's a vegetable soup, the other two thermos are hot green tea and an iced black tea, and the sandwiches are ham and cheese, egg and cress, and salami on rye! Take your pick!"

For herself, Kazumi started with a peach she'd gotten from the orchard as she put some fruit salad on her own plate.

"So Cake can cook and everything too? So she's like, what, a cat person?"

Then it looked as if those two were totally going to have an eat off...even though none of them knew it quite yet.

"Yeah, me too! I've been doing it a lot, considering that Subaru's birthday happened not too long ago. But this spread is awesome! Let's start with the soup, since its all watery, and we'll gave some of the black tea, since its a sunny day!"

She served herself some of the soup, eating accordingly and sighing with pleasure.

"She's just a cat," Fionna said, "but she can walk and talk and junk like anyone here."

"Alright, sure!" Kazumi giggled; she didn't really understand Fionna's reasoning, but it was good enough for her, so she doled out bowls and cups for the things and let Fionna serve herself before getting some as well.

"Oh, heheh, that sounds really cool! I don't really know any talking animals, though one of my friends can talk to animals," said Kazumi between sips and bites. "Well, maybe if you count Jyubey as an animal..."

Fionna was thinking of the order that Prince Gumball usually employed when they all had a picnic: soups were always first! So she had a generous helping, and gave Kazumi a thumbs up.

"Dude, this food is awesome, I bet the rest is just as good! Yeah, some of the people in my world can talk to animals, but they're a little different from Cake. What's a Jyubey?"

"Awww, thanks," said Kazumi, blushing a little at the compliment. "Jyubey's this little furry creature that gave me and my friends our magical powers. He looks really cute but..." He's actually an incubator that raised magical girls into witches? "...I think he's actually an alien from another planet. He's kind of like the team mascot though!"

"Aliens? Aww, neat! Your world's got some pretty kick butt stuff, Kazumi! I really wish that I could see all of the worlds that you guys come from! I dunno what a team mascot is though."

She ate thoughtfully. "This place treated you all right?"

"Hehe, yeah, I guess so." Actually it was kind of terrible but... no reason to be a downer on their day out! "A team mascot is like... well, the adorable character for a group! It's a charm point!"

Kazumi nodded as she munched on the fruit. "Yeah, it's been pretty good. Almost everyone I met has been super-nice. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm worried about everyone back home... it would actually be really great."

Fionna wouldn't know one world was terrible from the other unless it was plagued by wars, so she figured all worlds at least deserved some kind of chance, right? "Aw, that's kinda neat. But Cake is a lot more than that! If you see her, trust me, you'll know!"

She drank some more of the soup, savoring every drop. "I wouldn't worry too much. According to everyone, if you go back to your world, its supposed to be just as is you never left. So think of this as a real long vacation!"

With monsters and demons...and girfriends apparently.

It would take a lot of explaining anyway, so why use so much effort just to make Fionna sad?

"Hahaha, yeah, if she's your sister, I'm sure she's really awesome!" It didn't take long for Kazumi to finish the fruit and move onto the soup and tea after Fionna.

"Huh, really? I hadn't heard that part... so like, you come back to the same time you left? It really is like a fairy-tale!"

Fionna nodded, and finally decided to give some of the fruit a try, if only so Kazumi wouldn't think anything would be going to waste.

"She is, trust me!" Fionna insisted, eating something that tasted suspiciously like a peach. "And if she were here, she would at least be real happy to hang with us and get into mischief!"

She nodded. "It didn't happen to me yet, but its what I heard."

"Hehe, mischief making sounds fun!" replied Kazumi between sips.

"I wonder if you remember being here when you go back home," Kazumi pondered. "It would make for some pretty wild stories to tell your friends."

Fionna grinned. "I'm all about getting into a little bit of trouble! Just say what you wanna do first and we'll do it!"

She shrugged. "I dunno actually. From what I hear Ahika said, she forgot about being here until she was brought back again. So maybe no?"

"Hehe, I'd have to think about it! Nico was the best one in our group for pranks..." Kazumi was a little too straight-forwards and nice to come up with them herself.

"So it's like a dream? That's kind of sad to think I wouldn't remember any of this," she said, sighing. "But I guess that means we should enjoy it while we can! Sandwich?"

"Here, I think that's Sette!" Fionna said grinning, then made a face. "Well, her and that pink haired girl. She's the one that took me flying, but then she threw me in the water."

Why, she had no idea.

"I don't think I could ever think of this place as a dream," Fionna said, shrugging. "Too many people are nice here, and if you meet someone special, she'd mean a lot, you know?"

"Oh my gosh, I hope you were okay!" said Kazumi with a bit of worry. Well, it couldn't have been too bad since Fionna looked fine now, but still!

"Heheh, yeah... someone special," she murmured, blushing a little. Well, it wasn't like that... but Akira was still pretty darn special! And Fionna was awesome too, and a lot of the others she'd met! "That just makes me more sad that we'd forget... I'd never want to forget you guys!"

"I was kinda mad, since I thought she was just gonna show me flying," Fionna grumbled, looking more than a little cross. "But maybe she's all right, I dunno. I kinda wonder sometimes if its a bad thing I try to be pals so quickly."

Fionna shook her head. "Dude, I'm never forgetting! I look around and there's no junk from a war, and everything smells kinda nice, like no one's messed with the place. It's real hard to describe, but it feels fresh, you know?"

"Hehe, making friends is good! But yeah, you gotta be careful... some people aren't so friendly!" replied Kazumi as she munched through a sandwich triangle.

"Mm, yeah, I know what you mean! Asunaro city's pretty nice and clean, but this is all just so... fresh and natural!" she agreed. "It's almost unnatural how natural things are!"

"Yeah, I sorta found that out," Fionn said, almost dryly: sarcasm tended not to sound particularly believable from the bunny girl. "My first time here I met Ahika, and just for disturbing her she acted like a royal pain and called me not a lady. Not really the best first impression, for either of us!"

Fionna nodded. "I know but that's the weird part. This place is pretty strange anyway, when you have dirt that can make things to begin with. And that stuff with the queen and other people...its sorta like there's something boiling under the surface."

"Well, reaching out can be good! Some people just might not seem friendly at first, but are actually good people," Kazumi assured her. "I talked to Akiha once... she was pretty short with me too, but I think it's because of the thing with Akira..." The more she talked about it, the less she looked back on Akira's "kiss all the girls at the party" antics with favor... but it was hard to stay mad at her for very long.

"Yeah, it's like magic! I made a lot of my cooking stuff that way," chirped Kazumi happily. "The queen and the other people? I guess I haven't really heard from them much."

Fionna shrugged. "Yeah, Ahika is one of those royalty types who is really into acting like it. I dunno what will set her off next...wait, what thing with Akira?" Since when did Akira enter into anything? She would think those two wouldn't get along, Akiha was all hoity toity and Akira was...well, cool.

"Wait, you made the food with the dirt? I guess we have little choice though! But yeah, that queen stuff gets pretty confusing. I dunno what to do about that."

"Ahaha, well... I guess Akira kind of kissed Akiha, and Akiha got upset when she found out Akira kissed other people too," Kazumi explained, adding, "like me."

She flustered a bit at the misunderstanding. "Ah, no, no, no! I meant things like pots and pans and utensils, not the food itself! I got all that from the Orchard and the Pavilion."

Fionna looked...honestly somewhat put off by this. She knew Akiha was with Kris...and Katina...and now Akira? So why was she even getting upset about what Akira did? How exactly did the whole "dating more than one person" turn out anyway?

"Well she had no reason to be angry," Fionna finally said bluntly. "It's ok who you kiss as long as you're not hurting people. But whateves. Good plan on the stuff you cook foods in! What can you make?"
