Extra Recipe: Bentou Boxing

Kazumi had spent most of the morning preparing for her day with Fionna in one way or another, picking what to wear or getting ingredients for the lunch. She'd also made sure to make extra for Akira, leaving it out on the counter with a note about where she'd gone.

In any case, Kazumi was waiting in front of the Orchard for Fionna, having just picked some fresh fruit to go with what she'd made. Hopefully the girl would arrive soon, since she was pretty excited about going to the Arcade today!

...and kind of hungry.

"Right! I'll just follow you, you know where to go!"

[starofpleiades]

Leading the way, it became clear there was probably a more direct path from the Arcade to the apartments than going to the Orchard, then to the apartments, but while leading a friend wasn't exactly the time to get lost while exploring like that.

"Look, there it is over there!" Kazumi pointed over to the jumble of colorful blocks and different architectures that was the apartment complex. It had been pretty weird when she'd first seen it, but she'd gotten used to it since. "Just watch your step, the floors are funny."

Fionna was more than happy to follow Kazumi around this new path. It was true she had walked this way before, but never actually with a friend, so it was much more liable that Fionna would commit this to memory.

She raised her eyebrows. This place looked...unique.

"That's AWESOME!" She exclaimed, grinning. "You're, like, living in a maze! I love it!"

[starofpleiades]

"Hahaha, it's not that bad," said Kazumi to the maze comment, giggling a bit. "But it is pretty neat!"

Entering the compound, she led them down the hall and to the stairs. The floors were uneven, almost like a frozen ocean, but Kazumi walked lightly over them without a pause.

[fionna_time]

"Ok, I believe you!" Fionna said, following the girl. So far, this was ok! Even if the floors were...

Oh man.

She stopped, looking bothered. "What's up with this place? Why is it so still?"

[starofpleiades]

"Huh? Whaddaya mean?" asked Kazumi, looking back over at her. She didn't notice anything particularly odd, outside of the apartment's usual oddness.

[fionna_time]

"I dunno, it just feels...weird. Kinda big and weird," she said, shivering just a little bit. Fionna had a...rather strange fear of the open sea, even though the pirate escapade (coupled with the rum) had done a good job of hiding it."

[starofpleiades]

"Really? I guess it is pretty strange," said Kazumi, not really getting it. "Well, let's get into the apartment then; it's a lot more normal looking inside."

That said, she led the way up the stairs, which spiraled and zigzagged oddly but at least weren't too uneven.

[fionna_time]

Good idea. The ocean feeling was making Fionna look pretty green, but once she entered the apartment she was feeling quite better.

Though not a little confused. "Who the heck designed this place. It's kinda...fun, actually, once you get over the sinking feeling!"

[starofpleiades]

"I dunno! I think it's just one of those things that were in the garden to start with," Kazumi replied, closing the door behind them. "It's kinda like they took rooms from a buncha different buildings and put 'em together!"

At least the individual apartments weren't like that. Inside, Akira and Kazumi's place just looked like a pretty normal two bedroom apartment with somewhat combined living room, dining room and kitchen area. Walking over to the kitchen, she set down the picnic basket and started putting things away or in the fridge.

[fionna_time]

"And I thought that my place was pretty cool!" Fionna said half to herself. Sure, she thought that it was still a pretty cool place anyway, but much more awesome would jumbled up rooms be?!

The inside did look pretty normal though, and Fionna couldn't help needle Kazumi just a little bit. "Man, this place does look pretty cozy! No wonder you and Akira like it so much!"

[starofpleiades]

Kazumi just thought it was kind of weird, and worse when it was dark... then it kind of reminded her a of a witch's barrier. Good thing it was well-lit for most hours, even at night.

"Heheh, right? Sometimes it's just fun to relax around the house~" she said, walking over and flopping onto the couch once everything was put away.

[fionna_time]

Fionna was the type of girl who always liked when things were a little different, when they made you move around and could always find a way to enjoy it.

"Yeah, I bet!" Fionna said, grinning. "What do you guys usually do?"

[starofpleiades]

"Hmm... well, reading... I do a lot of cooking too." If that wasn't obvious already. "I guess I don't spend a whole lot of time inside."

[fionna_time]

"You don't?" Fionna pondered this. "Don't you hang with Akira ta all? You just stay inside? Why?"

[starofpleiades]

"No, I hang with Akira, though usually it's going out places around the Garden!" Kazumi explained. "Hehe, but there's also a lot of time exploring around by myself too. The time we spend together here... well, it's not really doing anything in particular, but being around each other, you know?"

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, me too!" Fionna said, grinning, then looked a little confused. "Wait, so you two don't hang and watch movies or anything, all you do is just hang around each other? What kinda fun is that?"

[starofpleiades]

"It's fun!" Kazumi assured her, though she looked thoughtful. "But movies would be nice... I didn't know we could get them here!"

[fionna_time]

"Neither did I!" Fionna said. "Heck, I didn't even know I could have my video games here!"

[starofpleiades]

"Oh, right, we could probably make them, huh? Wait, do we have to know the movie we make?" That might kind of limit things.

[fionna_time]

"I just make movies here!" Fionna said proudly. "I have a camera and everything!"

[starofpleiades]

"Whoa, you make movies? That's so cool!" cheered Kazumi, clearly impressed.

[fionna_time]

"They're just kinda home made things," Fionna said bashfully, laughing. "I haven't done too many, since it was something me and cake used to do together. But maybe we could later?"

[starofpleiades]

"That's still pretty neat though! It sounds like it'd be a lot of fun too," said Kazumi with a giggle. "Do you write scripts and stuff?"

[fionna_time]

"Scripts? Nah man, not me! I believe you gotta go straight for the gut, mostly! Do you think they'd be better with scripts?"

They would Fionna. Your movies aren't great.
