Extra Recipe: Bentou Boxing

Summary: Picnic and the Arcade!

Kazumi had spent most of the morning preparing for her day with Fionna in one way or another, picking what to wear or getting ingredients for the lunch. She'd also made sure to make extra for Akira, leaving it out on the counter with a note about where she'd gone.

In any case, Kazumi was waiting in front of the Orchard for Fionna, having just picked some fresh fruit to go with what she'd made. Hopefully the girl would arrive soon, since she was pretty excited about going to the Arcade today!

...and kind of hungry.

"Haha, that sounds fun but it also sounds kind of violent... especially when it's people that are actually here." Though, well, at least it was the people who had captured them here and not their friends? It still seemed kind of mean.

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, but its just a game, so its kinda fun. HEY! You know what? why don't we see of we could make a game like that, but instead of the queen and junk, it would be us? Can you imagine how cool that would be?!"

Now she was excited at an idea that sounded, frankly, pretty impossible.

[starofpleiades]

"What if we fought monsters or something instead of each other? Even if it's a game, I don't think I want to make me fight you fighting as you," said Kazumi, definitely less enthusiastic about this idea than Fionna. Nevermind that she knew nothing about making video games either.

[fionna_time]

Fionna looked thoughtful about this.

"No? Really? Aww, but I thought it'd be a pretty fun thing. Oh hey! Yeah, instead of just a one versus one, it'd be, like, a two or four player game where you go around the garden fighting monsters! And then you get, like, power ups and junk like that! It'd be totally fun!"

[starofpleiades]

"Yeah, that sounds like a lot more fun! We could be like a party of adventurers! Or a super hero group!" Yeah, working together sounded much more up Kazumi's lane.

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, I know! All we gotta do is just learn the way it all works, and I'm sure we can put it together through the dirt! We just have to think it out real well, how everything will go, all the traps, all the enemies. maybe we should start by writing things down."

[starofpleiades]

"We should totally do that once we're done here! Actually, let's go right now! These bunnies are cute, but this sounds way more fun!" Yeah, okay, she was definitely getting into it now.

[fionna_time]

"Sure!" Fionna was really liking the way this sounded: considering all the stuff that had been going on lately, it would be great to spend some time doing other stuff. That, and Fionna had had her share of bunnies: looking and acting the part had been enough for that one day.

"You've played lotsa video games before though, right?"

[starofpleiades]

"Uhhh, not really?" Kazumi admitted sheepishly. "Actually, today is the longest I've spent playing them..."

[fionna_time]

Well shucks. But that was ok, right? Fionna would just have to show the girl how the games worked, right? "That's OK!I've been playing games since me and Cake learned how! I could totes show you how it works!"

[starofpleiades]

"Awesome, I'm counting on you then!" giggled Kazumi, giving a cheerful fist pump.

[fionna_time]

"Hey, you're gonna help too, right?" Fionna protested. "I just gotta show you how it all works, is all! The big question is what it'll look like!"

[starofpleiades]

"Of course! But I'm counting on you to teach me, Fionna-sensei!" Kazumi giggled. "I'll definitely help out with how it looks and stuff!"

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, of course!" Fionna said, "Just come by the tree fort a few times, let me know, and we'll start planning everything! It'll be awesome, trust me!"

[starofpleiades]

"Yes, definitely! We could get started right now even... oh, though I should probably get starting thinking about what to do for dinner tonight!" Well, she probably still had some time, but she just knew if they got started on something like that, it'd be hours before they stopped. "Well, I can still hang out a little longer though! So besides that one game, what other games do you really like here?"

[fionna_time]

Fionna was full of great ideas (and just as full of bad ones too) but figured if they kept talking about this all day, they'd lose sight of the original purpose of coming out to begin with: having fun and enjoying themselves!

"That's really all the games they got here," Fionna said sadly. "We could still play some of those, but there are other things we can do too, if you want."

[starofpleiades]

"Ooh, what other kinds of things?" asked Kazumi. The games were pretty fun, but she was always up to see new things!

[fionna_time]

Fionna shrugged. "I kinda didn't thin that far ahead. Hey, why don't we head to your place and relax a little? You could show me what its like, and then next time I can totes show you the fort!"

[starofpleiades]

"Yeah, sure! Heheh, well, there's not much to it, but I can definitely show you around!" agreed Kazumi, scooping up the picnic basket and heading towards the exit. "Plus I can get started on dinner too!"

[fionna_time]

"I'd love that!" Fionna said, helping to pick up whatever was remaining, and walking alongside Kazumi. "I can help you with dinner too!"

[starofpleiades]

"Cool! We're over in the apartment complexes. It's like, a little past the Orchard?" Well, not that she'd ever gone there from here of course, but if they went back the way they came, it was.

[fionna_time]

"Right! I'll just follow you, you know where to go!"

[starofpleiades]

Leading the way, it became clear there was probably a more direct path from the Arcade to the apartments than going to the Orchard, then to the apartments, but while leading a friend wasn't exactly the time to get lost while exploring like that.

"Look, there it is over there!" Kazumi pointed over to the jumble of colorful blocks and different architectures that was the apartment complex. It had been pretty weird when she'd first seen it, but she'd gotten used to it since. "Just watch your step, the floors are funny."

[fionna_time]

Fionna was more than happy to follow Kazumi around this new path. It was true she had walked this way before, but never actually with a friend, so it was much more liable that Fionna would commit this to memory.

She raised her eyebrows. This place looked...unique.

"That's AWESOME!" She exclaimed, grinning. "You're, like, living in a maze! I love it!"

[starofpleiades]

"Hahaha, it's not that bad," said Kazumi to the maze comment, giggling a bit. "But it is pretty neat!"

Entering the compound, she led them down the hall and to the stairs. The floors were uneven, almost like a frozen ocean, but Kazumi walked lightly over them without a pause.
