Extra Recipe: Bentou Boxing

Summary: Picnic and the Arcade!

Kazumi had spent most of the morning preparing for her day with Fionna in one way or another, picking what to wear or getting ingredients for the lunch. She'd also made sure to make extra for Akira, leaving it out on the counter with a note about where she'd gone.

In any case, Kazumi was waiting in front of the Orchard for Fionna, having just picked some fresh fruit to go with what she'd made. Hopefully the girl would arrive soon, since she was pretty excited about going to the Arcade today!

...and kind of hungry.

"Girlfriend? So you have like, an actual actual girlfriend now?" bubbled Kazumi excitedly, not even caring when the unicorn exploded this time. "Oh wow, oh wow!"

Books were totally forgotten by this revelation.

[fionna_time]

Fionna could scarcely believe it herself, but it was true!

"Yup, I do!" she said, smiling. "She's pretty awesome too! She is shy and all when it comes to sayin' that stuff, but you should see her if she has to fight, and she even defended me a few times! It's hard not to like her!"

[starofpleiades]

"She sounds really awesome," Kazumi agreed. "And cute too! Heheh, I'd probably tease her a lot if I were in your place, whoops."

[fionna_time]

"She's all that stuff and more!" Fionna piped up, smiling. "It's a little hard not to tease her, but I don't cuz she's sorta sensitive about that kinda stuff, even though she's older than me. Urd teases ME about not being able to...like, be more forward though. I'm just not used to doing that, you know?"

[starofpleiades]

"Eheh, I'll try to keep that in mind. Is that her name, Urd?" asked Kazumi, unicorns forgotten for now. "Really? You seem pretty forward though!"

[fionna_time]

"nah, Urd's just a friend of mine that's a goddess who teases me. My girlfriend's name is Amamiya! Have you met her at all/"

Exactly! She was plenty forward!

[starofpleiades]

"Oh, okay! No, I haven't met either one, I don't think... what's Amamiya look like?" she asked.

[fionna_time]

Fionna grinned. "She's got long blue hair, glasses, and almost always's got a serious face! But trust me, once you get to know her, you know she's not always serious! She's...well, you'll find out!"

[starofpleiades]

"She sounds pretty! Long hair is really nice," giggled Kazumi. "Yeah, you'll definitely have to introduce me to her!"

[fionna_time]

"Sure I will!" Fionna said eagerly, realizing exactly how much she wanted people to see how awesome Amamiya was...if she would allow it, of course.

"So what should we do next?"

[starofpleiades]

"Hmm, well... what sort of game do you want to play? We should find one we can both play!" Kazumi suggested, looking around.

[fionna_time]

"What, like a video game?" Fionna though a moment. "I dunno. What do you think we both should play?"

[starofpleiades]

"Yeah, against or with each other... or maybe find two of the same game and see who can do better?" None of these really looked familiar to Kazumi. But probably not the sushi one. She'd just get hungry again playing that.

[fionna_time]

Fionna would have agreed with her about the sushi cat game, mostly because she had no idea what sushi was. What she DID like, however, was the rabbit game, having to jump higher and higher without crashing into the ground. It was like the unicorn game but less intense.

"How about that rabbit game? It's fun! I kinda wish that other game from before was here though, where you played those people from the garden."

[starofpleiades]

"Oh, that looks cute!" And given how many copies of it were around, they could easily play side-by-side with each other.

"Other game?"

[fionna_time]

Fionna nodded. "Yeah, there was this cool beat up game, only it had the people in the garden, like the queen and the princess and the vampire girl and stuff! I hadn't played a beat 'em up game in awhile, so it was pretty awesome!"

[starofpleiades]

"Haha, that sounds fun but it also sounds kind of violent... especially when it's people that are actually here." Though, well, at least it was the people who had captured them here and not their friends? It still seemed kind of mean.

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, but its just a game, so its kinda fun. HEY! You know what? why don't we see of we could make a game like that, but instead of the queen and junk, it would be us? Can you imagine how cool that would be?!"

Now she was excited at an idea that sounded, frankly, pretty impossible.

[starofpleiades]

"What if we fought monsters or something instead of each other? Even if it's a game, I don't think I want to make me fight you fighting as you," said Kazumi, definitely less enthusiastic about this idea than Fionna. Nevermind that she knew nothing about making video games either.

[fionna_time]

Fionna looked thoughtful about this.

"No? Really? Aww, but I thought it'd be a pretty fun thing. Oh hey! Yeah, instead of just a one versus one, it'd be, like, a two or four player game where you go around the garden fighting monsters! And then you get, like, power ups and junk like that! It'd be totally fun!"

[starofpleiades]

"Yeah, that sounds like a lot more fun! We could be like a party of adventurers! Or a super hero group!" Yeah, working together sounded much more up Kazumi's lane.

[fionna_time]

"Yeah, I know! All we gotta do is just learn the way it all works, and I'm sure we can put it together through the dirt! We just have to think it out real well, how everything will go, all the traps, all the enemies. maybe we should start by writing things down."

[starofpleiades]

"We should totally do that once we're done here! Actually, let's go right now! These bunnies are cute, but this sounds way more fun!" Yeah, okay, she was definitely getting into it now.

[fionna_time]

"Sure!" Fionna was really liking the way this sounded: considering all the stuff that had been going on lately, it would be great to spend some time doing other stuff. That, and Fionna had had her share of bunnies: looking and acting the part had been enough for that one day.

"You've played lotsa video games before though, right?"

[starofpleiades]

"Uhhh, not really?" Kazumi admitted sheepishly. "Actually, today is the longest I've spent playing them..."
