[ Winter has slowed the flower youkai down, it's true, but after being tricked by those marigolds so recently she was not about to let it slide. Exploring the entirety of the gardens might seem like a tall order, but she has nothing but time now to investigate her surroundings more thoroughly. If she so happens to bump into one of its inhabitants,that's just a bonus for her. Especially if something fun happens along the way~. ]


((OOC: As you can see, Yuuka's just wandering all over. Feel free to pick and choose where and when the two bump into each other. Mistletoe is optional, but largely the point of this post.))

THE DATE

-The insanity of the library had settled only shortly ago, leaving Shinki with little time to set up her date. She had to work simply. So a picinic it was, beneath the moonlight, in a part of the garden where sunflowers still bloomed in spite of the winter. The food packed was simple, as well. But Shinki herself... was not. She shedded her goddess robes for a simple red cocktail dress with white trim, feeling the festive mood.-

Are my tastes this predictable? [ It's hard to tell if Yuuka had meant the dress, or the choice of venue. She stroked the petals of one of the flowers gently, its face following the motions of her hand like a hungry beast sniffing for a treat.

Yuuka, herself, was dressed the same as always, though her clothes were remade to be good as new, spotless, unfrayed, and the air about her hinting of a fresh spring breeze.

...okay, so she was a little dolled up, but that was her part of the plan. If this is a trick, she'll still be able to keep her guard up and turn the tables when appropriate. If this is not... then she plans on making sure Shinki regrets this behavior at a later time. ]

No, it's not that... I just had to rush, I'm afraid. But I hope everything is to your liking, even if it may feel a bit cheap and ill thought out.

All this consideration ages after it would have been appropriate. Is guilt finally catching up to you? [ She can't help but pry, despite just wanting to play along. There might be a chance to watch the woman break character, after all. ]

Even a goddess needs time, now and again... It's nothing to do with guilt. It's with wanting to put the past behind us and start again. Just you and I...

Oh god this is going to end badly

[Reimu herself had just landed after spotting some mistletoe in the area, and was in the process of putting up a little barrier to protect people from it. She was a bit busy with a chant, so wasn't paying attention to who may be coming up behind her...]

[nephentes_rajah]

[ The youkai stops a short distance behind her, umbrella folded and pointed at the ground with both hands resting lightly on the handle. She'll just wait to be noticed. ]

[nekomikoreimu]

[After a few moments Reimu feels she is being watched. She turns and spots Yuuka. She doesn't look happy at all to see her.]

... Well this is just great.

[nephentes_rajah]

[ Yuuka just kept on smiling. ] Someone doesn't look happy to see me.

[nekomikoreimu]

Because I have a strong feeling you are not happy with me.

NO REGRETS... Maybe.

[swordthrowing]

[Why. Why did Yumeko keep bumping into this...woman when she decided to go out.]

[Well, in any case, she saw no reason to interact with Yuuka this time around. They were just heading in opposite directions down the same path, and Yumeko certainly wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of going out of her way to avoid her. So, rather than turning in another direction, she merely flicked her hair over her shoulder and stuck her nose up in the air a little, fully intending to walk right past her without so much as acknowledging her existence.]

[ Oh, now Yuuka would have let that opportunity pass if the maid hadn't attempted to look so superior. She saw what she was like as a child, after all, and it's hard to shake the mental image of the little blonde girl yelling and tussling over a few minor words of insult.

In fact, it's that mental image that makes Yuuka smile broadly right at the woman before the pass out of sight of each other. Might that be enough to taunt her? Maybe~. ]

[swordthrowing]

[Yumeko's footsteps don't falter at the sight of that grin. There is, however, a sharp, angry intake of breath, her hands balling into fists at her side.]

[...But before Yuuka can find out whether or not that means her unspoken taunt worked, Yumeko bumps face-first into an invisible wall. The noise she makes is more one of surprise than pain as she whirls around.]

What did you do?!

[ Knowing full well by now what that comment was heralding, Yuuka stopped in her tracks before she met the same fate, but did not yet turn around. ] Me~?

[ Yuuka glanced over her shoulder, her look unchanged. ] For a moment, I thought the maid hadn't noticed me.

[swordthrowing]

It's hard not to notice a wild animal prowling around unchecked. [She makes a face, but as her immediate anger cools, she tries to take a mental step back and approach the situation logically. This isn't the first time this has happened to her, and while it would be simplest to blame Yuuka...]

[She glances upward, but only briefly, apparently unwilling to take her eyes off of Yuuka for long.]

Did you do this? [Plants are her domain, after all.]

[ Explorers explorers everywhere. Florina's been doing some exploration on her own as of late, instead of clinging to Lyn. Despite the relative safety of the gardens, it feels wrong not to know her surroundings, even if she can't get airborne to really learn them properly.

She looks about as likely to dart as a scared rabbit, but she also has a sword at her side. Spotting someone else who may or may not be exploring, she looks curiously at the green haired woman from afar for a moment, before nervously approaching. ]

H-hello?

[ A real sword? How unusual. Not that Yuuka's umbrella is harmless by any means, but it isn't like Gensokyo sees a lot of use out of physical weapons like that. It's the first thing that catches her eye when she turns to face the girl.

She smiles. ] You don't sound too sure of yourself.

[shy_flier]

[ A real, honest to god sword, and in the hands of someone who knows how to use it quite well.

There's something that strikes Florina about Yuuka, though she seems friendly enough at the moment. ]

I... just didn't want to bother you if you want to be alone.

[nephentes_rajah]

Nonsense. You couldn't possibly bother me. [ That was either a reassurance or a threat. It was hard to say, with that smile of hers. ]

[shy_flier]

Oh, um, g-good... I'm... glad that I didn't...

[ Right? Florina doesn't want to bother anyone, especially someone this confident. ]

[thirdshiki]

[Hiiragi remains more or less unaware of the mistletoe, all her attention directed into getting to know the general layout of the gardens and any potential dangers. the latter was maybe a bit unnecessary, seeing as she didn't particularly care for her own well-being, but it was basic protocol. even if she didn't have a master to protect here.

she senses Yuuka's presence before she rounds the corner (a youkai with strong power), and Hiiragi considers turning the other way or flashstepping out of the vicinity. but, it's too late, and she's already on the same path as Yuuka, mask grinning at the other youkai. she has a feeling running away now would be an unwise decision.]

[nephentes_rajah]

[ What an interesting feeling and a look to go with it. The mask makes Yuuka curious in a dangerous way; but then again, danger is usually implied.

She pauses and retracts a foot back, looking surprised. ] What have we here?

[thirdshiki]

[there's a pause before she responds, maybe just a bit too long, but she speaks politely with no infliction.]

Excuse me.

[and she starts to move to step around Yuuka.]

What if I— [ Yuuka shouldn't need fancy moves to step into the masked lady's line of sight. ] —don't~?

[well, then. she stops again.]
