[ Winter has slowed the flower youkai down, it's true, but after being tricked by those marigolds so recently she was not about to let it slide. Exploring the entirety of the gardens might seem like a tall order, but she has nothing but time now to investigate her surroundings more thoroughly. If she so happens to bump into one of its inhabitants,that's just a bonus for her. Especially if something fun happens along the way~. ]


((OOC: As you can see, Yuuka's just wandering all over. Feel free to pick and choose where and when the two bump into each other. Mistletoe is optional, but largely the point of this post.))

[ Knowing full well by now what that comment was heralding, Yuuka stopped in her tracks before she met the same fate, but did not yet turn around. ] Me~?

[ Yuuka glanced over her shoulder, her look unchanged. ] For a moment, I thought the maid hadn't noticed me.

[swordthrowing]

It's hard not to notice a wild animal prowling around unchecked. [She makes a face, but as her immediate anger cools, she tries to take a mental step back and approach the situation logically. This isn't the first time this has happened to her, and while it would be simplest to blame Yuuka...]

[She glances upward, but only briefly, apparently unwilling to take her eyes off of Yuuka for long.]

Did you do this? [Plants are her domain, after all.]

[nephentes_rajah]

We're all caged, don't forget~. [ A fact she is not happy with, but she otherwise shrugs off the cruel implication that she is some animal.

Yuuka is a monster. There's a difference.

She giggles and shrugs her shoulder. ] Who knows? What would you say if I did?

[swordthrowing]

I—

[What would she do? She doesn't think it would be especially becoming to pick a fight with Yuuka over something so ultimately petty, but saying she would be very irritated with her just doesn't pack the same punch.]

If you're trying to corner me into...kissing you, I'd say it's within my rights to respond with force. [...] Can't you get rid of it?

[nephentes_rajah]

Oh, well I wouldn't want force. [ She waves her free hand dismissively. The mistletoe, of course, doesn't go anywhere, but that isn't to say the magical field wouldn't have disappeared. ]

There. You can go~. [ She can't. ]

[swordthrowing]

[She squints at Yuuka, not wanting to take her eyes off her now. So, rather than turning around, she takes a step backward... And hits the back of her head against the barrier this time.]

[...This really shouldn't make her as angry as it does. It does, though, and against good manners and good sense, she calls a sword to her hand.]

Do not play games with me.

But they're making so much progress!

[nephentes_rajah]

[ The sight of that sword fills her with an odd sort of thrill. Are things going to get serious? Finally! ] But you're just so much fun, what with the way you're so quick to blame others.

...maybe she'll feel better after... /)_o

[swordthrowing]

Perhaps I wouldn't be, if you ever gave a straight answer.

[Yumeko doesn't make another move, though. She knows they haven't been left much space, so she can't act recklessly (any more so than she already has).]

should Yuuka have a cigarette handy?

I'm always honest with myself. [ Knowing that there is only so much a weapon like that can do in close quarters, and having no such limits herself, Yuuka takes a step closer and folds up her umbrella slowly. ]

[swordthrowing]

That says nothing of your honesty toward other people.

[She takes a step aside, doing what she can to keep the distance between them equal.]

[nephentes_rajah]

You don't trust me. [ And Yuuka really doesn't care. ] How sad. I thought we had a few things in common~.

[swordthrowing]

[And that... Makes Yumeko go rigid, in a way that involves dropping from her semi-ready stance.]

How am I anything like you?

[She sounds positively indignant at the suggestion, spitting her words.]

[nephentes_rajah]

I thought we got along rather well when we were children. [ Oh no, she's never letting that little encounter go. It was comedy gold, and likely great for baiting the maid. ]

[swordthrowing]

[At the very least, it makes her bristle and sputter. Her composure is long gone.]

Don't— Don't be ridiculous!

[nephentes_rajah]

I'm the ridiculous one? You're the one using a sword in a space that's far too small to afford you the right momentum. [ Oh yes, that's a challenge. Yuuka has already had time to figure out the volume within these barriers, so she can make some pretty good guesses to how restricted her movements would be. ] Now put that away before you get hurt.

[swordthrowing]

[The sword stays right where it is. Actually, that's not quite right. She raises it again, slightly.]

And do what? You can't expect me to actually— To actually kiss you!

[She has to wonder what would happen if they did kill each other now. Would the barrier stay there anyway?]

[nephentes_rajah]

[ Yuuka grins, bringing her closed umbrella up, its tip touching the tip of Yumeko's sword almost as if they were crossing blades to prepare to duel. ] If it's a choice you want...

[ Then another umbrella comes up from the other side of the sword to mimic the gesture.

But Yuuka's not holding a second umbrella.

A second Yuuka, however, is. One that steps out from behind the youkai, wearing that same grin. ] ...it's a choice you'll get.

[swordthrowing]

[For a second or two, her expression losses its anger in favor of shock, her eyes widening as she takes in the sight of the twin Yuuka before her. She isn't sure if it's a physical double or just an illusion, but in any case, she hadn't realized the youkai could do...that.]

I said for you to stop playing games with me! What kind of choice is this, anyway—?

[She looks like she's a push or two away from throwing her sword to the ground in frustration. She's probably not as different from her younger self as she might like to think.]

[nephentes_rajah]

But I'm not playing any games. [ Said the first. ]

I might be, though. [ The second one's comment made the first laugh. ]

The choice is that you get to decide which of us you want to kiss first — to see which of us is the "real" Yuuka.

If it doesn't work — it just means you have to try it twice! [ Unless the mistletoe releases them all upon a kiss, which wouldn't be very fun. ]

[swordthrowing]

Is— Is that all?

[Acting unbothered is probably out of the question at this point, but Yumeko honestly is surprised the consequences for choosing the wrong Yuuka aren't worse. Of course, it's not as though this woman can't be lying, and staying on guard sounds like the wise thing to do in any case.]

Well, that— Fine.

[Nothing else has gotten her very far. Her eyes narrow slightly as she glances from one to the other. They don't look any different... Eventually, she gestures to the one (she thinks?) started out in front of the other.]

Then... That one, then.

[nephentes_rajah]

"That one"? [ They look at each other and share a private little laugh. ] That won't do~.

You'll have to say my name—[ The other Yuuka interrupts with: ]—AND what you want from me!

Hmmm, good idea, if I do say so myself. [ And she did. Sort of. The "chosen" one nods. ] Yes, all of that, before I do anything.

[swordthrowing]

[Yumeko makes a sharp, involuntary noise, obviously not pleased with her continued mockery. She seethes, but after a few seconds, she does blurt out a reply.]

F... Fine! Then, would Yuuka please come here, so that I may kiss her.

[nephentes_rajah]

[ Satisfied, both grin and both approach the maid. The chosen one with her hands demurely behind her back even as she saunters that short distance forward, leans in.

The other... well, it just so happens she wants to watch. Can't blame her, can you? Just pretend she's a reflection or something. No way she's going to forget this. ]

[swordthrowing]

[Yumeko has no intention of closing her eyes around Yuuka, but she doesn't want to look at her now. So, she compromises with herself and keeps eyes on the one she doesn't lean in to kiss, in case she decides to try anything funny. Her sword is still in her hand, and she tries to keep that between herself and the one in front of her.]

[If at all possible, she intends to make this nothing more than a quick peck on the mouth.]

[nephentes_rajah]

[ The Yuuka acting as a bystander is positively elated. The sword won't do the maid much good pressed between their bodies like that, and pressed it might become as the other Yuuka — she should really be paying attention to the one doing the kissing — decides to escalate things.

And if that doesn't work, well, the voyeur has one more trick up her sleeve. Care to guess what it is? ]
