Summary: New Years Eve party at the Inn / Onsen

Just as Subaru had announced, the Inn was laid out for a grand old party and everyone was invited! The first floor had wall panels opened for two large rooms for mingling; one with food and music, the other with a few different games (and space for anything people might bring in)!

The hot springs are also ready as always, with towels and buckets and such all set out, in case someone wanted a nice relaxing soak in the otherwise chill night air.

For those staying the night, the second floor has been closed off to offer as much privacy as possible, with futons laid out as they were intended, four to a room. It might be too cold and dark to go home after midnight, after all, and Subaru will not kick anyone out.

The only thing she seems to have forgotten is fireworks... but that doesn't mean sparks can't fly at midnight.

"I already do," she said, sticking her tongue out again. "And I want no part of it. Makes you all squishy. I wanna be rock-hard."

"You're still mostly just goin' with what your dad says. Not to say you won't keep thinking the same forever, but you might not."

Well, it was hard for her to deny that she was echoing her Da.

"What about you? Dn't tell me yer all soft in the knees."

"N-" Well she can't say that. "A little. Sometimes. You kinda have to know what it's like to know why, though."

Sette grimaced. "Ya disgust me," she said. "I thought you was cool."

"Hey, it doesn't mean I'm any less of a terror in a fight."

[swarmoflies]

"Maybe not," she allowed, "but it plays merry havoc with yer image."

[grandtheftmecha]

"If anyone makes a fuss about it, they'll get what's coming to them." She flexes a nice, firm bicep.

"Maybe so, but yet image is currency in itself. Ya can't show no weakness. Like me Da always says, clobberin' a bloke's good, but makin' him back down with just a clenched fist's even better. It's got the same effect and you don't got to worry 'bout losin'."

"Eh, if I clobber enough I'll get the point across." It's a blunt style, but that's Katina. "Anyways, I'm not the boss of anything like he is, and like you're gonna be."

"Reputation's still important," Sette replied, but the matter seemed to have been settled. "Love's just so...lame."

"Guess I'll have to do without. You can think what you want though."

"Eh."

Sette was sick of talking about this. Katina just wasn't making any sense to her.

"How'd you get all them muscles, anyhow?" Sette asked. No matter what she did, she always felt spindly.

Katina flexed an arm. "Lifting weights, and eating right. I was pretty skinny at your age too, though."

"I don't suppose 'eatin' right' means lotsa fish an' sweets."

[grandtheftmecha]

"Fish is good! Better for you than pork or red meat. You gotta limit the sweets, though, and eat fruits and vegetables and grains and dairy..." Of course, veggies are always the hard part.

And sure enough, she grimaces again at that. "Why veggies? The heck'd I want ta eat greenery for?"

"Basically, there's stuff in it that makes your body work a lot better."

[swarmoflies]

"But it's gross! If my body wanted me t' eat it, wouldn't it taste better?"

[grandtheftmecha]

"Your body isn't nearly as smart as you'd like it to be."

"Bluuuuuh."

Sette sank down into the water again, blowing unhappy bubbles.

"I guess it's like me Da says," she said, poking her head back up again. "Ain't nothing worth having comes free."

"Nope. If you've ever tasted some medicine, you'd know what that's like..." Even Katina winces a little.

"Me Gran cooks up some herbs and things when ya fall ill. Sad fact, I ain't much good at hiding with a head fulla sick."

"Ugh, me neither, it's always a pain in the ass. I don't think someone like you gets too sick too often though."
