Summary: Clearing the air over lunch dinner THERE IS FOOD, OKAY?

For someone who had invited another over to clear up the constant awkward misunderstandings between them, Subaru was not at all nervous about Sayaka's visit. In the time leading up to her arrival she busied herself first with a quick shower, then a bit of sweeping, and finally preparing the dinner she had planned since yesterday. The scent of steaming stir-fry vegetables and baked chicken fill the kitchen and adjacent room. Though Subaru has only set out two places on the low table, it looks as if her preparations could easily feed five or more. Chopsticks and other utensils are both available, tea, soda, and water are all ready in their pitchers or bottles, and she's just waiting near an open wall for the few minutes before the hour was up.

[When Sayaka came round, she looked like a mix of apathetic and worried. She had no idea what she was going to do, now that she was here.

Even thought she used to stay here, Sayaka couldn't help but look around, wondering what would happen.]

[ The place hasn't changed much at all from when Subaru first arrived, if you discount the hole in the yard and the mis-matched roof where repairs had been made after the fight with Reimu.

Barefoot, but in clean shorts and a t-shirt, Subaru steps into the hall and waves. ] Ah, there you are. Welcome!

[That is amazingly casual. More so then Sayaka, who's at least wearing shoes.]

... What happened to the roof?

[ Well she does technically run the place by now, so she gives herself a lot of freedom.

Subaru ducks her head a bit, hand on the back of her neck. ] Eheh, that was a misunderstanding of sorts. You remember the fairies that were around a while back?

[Forget the shoes, she's wearing socks, since she took those off. Otherwise, she just has a frilly odd top on, and skirt.]

... What, did they fly out through the roof?

Um... it was more like she flew in after the hole was there. [ Subaru gestures for Sayaka to follow her into the open room. ] Let's talk more in here. The food will get cold!

[She follows, but won't wait to talk.] So it doesn't really concern them?

...the fairy was the reason I fought with Reimu. [ Might as well be honest. Subaru sits down and pours herself some water. ] Things got a little too heated because I wasn't feeling like my usual self, but that's really just an excuse.

[Sayaka sits down herself, and just makes herself comfy.] So you got into a fight inside a place where people would normally stay. I hope no one else got involve or hurt.

It was not my smartest move, but Reimu was insistent so I had to stand up to her. [ At least she's honest. ] That part I don't regret, but you're right... I was lucky that no one else was around at the time.

Couldn't have tried to take it outside... through the door, I mean?

It was outside. [ You can see the good that did them.

She starts to load up a plate and... it doesn't look like she's stopping at just one serving's worth. ]

... The hell kind of fight did you have?

[of_the_highest_caliber]

[ The kind where she almost went berserk and likely would have leveled more than a five-meter section of two walls. ] I really don't want to talk about that anymore. We both made a mistake and agreed on that. [ Mostly. ] It's not something I like doing — fighting, I mean.

Ah.

[... That's all she has to say about that. Hope you weren't expecting more from her.]

[ Subaru lets that silence drag on for a moment. ] It's probably weird for a front-line combat mage to say something like that, but it's true. I'll fight when I have to. When I have someone to protect and my strength can be of use that way, but I'd rather do everything other than fighting if I can help it.

... I really hope this isn't all we're going to talk about.

I just want to avoid misunderstandings between magic users. [ In the moments, she might not have been aware of just how many they had, but Subaru has had a lot of peace and quiet to think about her time here. She takes a deep breath and then a sip of her water. ]

... Oh, just people who use magic? So people who don't are free to misunderstand you, then?

Eheh, I meant us. [ Casually, before she takes a piece of chicken to chew on. ]

[Sayaka can't even remember who she told about magic stuff to, too much has happened.]

So you wouldn't agree to a fist fight with me?

[of_the_highest_caliber]

[ Subaru blinks owlishly. ] Why? For practice?

... I was using it as an example.

I thought so, but I mean... why would you want to do that?

It was the first thing I thought of when I thought "violent thing"!
