Really should know better.

Summary: Mistletoe mischief! Also, I had just missed the one last year:(
Warnings: None yet.

A gloom had come over many of her friends, and it was bringing Fionna down...almost. After all, the weather was changing, and there was something about the way the weather had changed that made Fionna feel happy. If her friends weren't going to be happy, she could at least try for them, right?

And what was the best way to do that but to try to get into a festive mood? Fionna was in the gardens, putting flowers in her hair, her hair combed neatly and flowing a little longer than usual out of her hat. It would have surprised even Cake back home: she had never looked this primped up.

Of course, this would have actually been a good idea to look at Alice's post, but like most alerts, Fionna had missed them and was walking around the gardens, seeing what food she could gather in the treefort later. True, she was really only there half the time, but you never knew what you would need later, right?

"I dunno dude, you seem to be pretty into 'em, and you're yelling a lot. Maybe it wasn't just those breasts though, maybe you just liked her?"

She was being a pain, yeah, but that was what Sette got for saying she wasn't as pretty. She was just getting better at hiding that.

"Shaddup, you," she said unhappily. She was a lot better at dishing it out than taking it. "Let's just get this over with, alright?"

"Fine," Fionna said shrugging. "But I think you better do it, not me. That way it'll feel less..ya know, messed up."

"Fine," Sette said. She hesitated for a moment, and then got up on her toes - she wasn't as short as she used to be, she found.

She gave Fionna a kiss right on the mouth. It wasn't long or hard, just a quick in-and-out.

"There, happy?"

Had it been that long? Fionna had been so used to a short Sette that she hadn't expected her to reach so easily. and when she did, it was still surprising. The kiss didn't last long.

Good question.

"Nah dude," she said. "I don't think you ever brush your teeth."

But there was a wink, just so she understood it was still pretty cool Sette didn't complain about it all day.

"You brush'em?"

Yet another bit of standard modern hygiene Sette had utterly missed out on.

"Uh, yeah. Who wants to have a stinking mouth?"

Was she seri-oh really. asking herself that question was just dumb at this point.

"Besides, I like having my teeth, even the buck ones in the front! I don;t want 'em rotting away!"

"First I ever heard of it," Sette commented. "Now...aha, yes! I can move again!"

She did a happy little dance.

"Stoopid plant."

"Yeah, it was just another pervy queen moment," Fionna said, sighing. "I'll bet there's more around too. Imagine if you get someone really bad dude..."

She took out her sword and threw it at the plant.

"You SUCK! Taste my blade!"

"Ugh, don't remind me," Sette groused. "There're probably some proper childlovers out there."

"That would be pretty messed up. But hey, at least we got through this without, like, fights or nothing. Feels...like we should do something awesome after this, I dunno. What do you think?"

"I dunno, just kissin' ain't much of a challenge," Sette pointed out. "Whaddaya got in mind?"

"It is if you really don't like that dude," Fionna said. "Like, if you had to kiss your worse enemy or something."

She thought about this. "I dunno, sledding, or maybe some swimming! I dunno, I have all this energy! I wanna do something with a lot of physical junk!"

"I could go for a dip," Sette said. She really loved swimming. It was good times. "Ain't the water gonna be awful cold, though?"

Fionna shrugged. "So? That's what makes it fun! And as long as its not an ocean, it'll be totally awesome! Besides, I go through the Ice Kingdom back home, like, on a daily basis!"

Sette shrugged right back at her. "Alright, then."

She tilted her head back and sniffed. Then she turned and pointed. "Water's this way," she said.

Man, that nose had to come in handy. It reminded her a lot of Cake back home. Man, she did miss that overprotective sister of hers.

"Right behind you!" She called stretching her legs and making sure she was properly limber for this.

Sette bounded off into the woods, stopping to sniff every now and then to make sure they were on the right path. Sure enough, before long they emerged onto the bank of a river, cutting through the Gardens from north to south.

Sette immediately started losing clothing. "Don't look too bad!" she said as her shirt hit the ground.

Fionna had to admit that Sette was faster than her, but Fionna was still quick enough to follow her anyway, and pretty soon she could even smell the water in the air. She turned to Sette to ask whats eh'd wear, but it looked as if Sette was going natural again.

"F-fine then, its not like there's even ice yet!" Fionna said, mentally psyching herself for this, and lost her shirt as well.

Of course. Sette had no interest whatsoever in bathing costumes, and still regarded them as a weird and pointless thing to wear.

Stripping bare, she ran up to the edge of the water...and then stopped, as though thinking better of it. The water splashing against her feet was cold.

Aw man, she was doing it. So Sette was really kicking it up a notch. Even Fionna knew, with her having suggested this, that she'd better get ready.

She gritted her teeth, placed her skort in a nearby bush and jumped.

"SON OF A BLEEB BLOB ITS COLD!"

Sette hesitated a moment longer, but then no more. She couldn't be shown up like this. Closing her eyes and steeling herself, she followed suit and jumped right into the current.

She shrieked the moment she hit the water. It was freezing! She was pretty sure the only reason it hadn't actually frozen up was that it was moving. The force of the cold knocked the breath right out of her, and she surfaced a moment later, gasping and trying to rub herself warm again. It didn't work.

"Bugger me in the arse with a poker!" she swore as she headed for the riverback, wet hair sticking unpleasantly to her back. "I warned ya about cold!"

Oh man, it was taking everything for Fionna not to flip right now. The cold water was like a punch in the gut, only it was all over her body, and she could feel goosebumps rising up her shoulders and down her back.

Of course, it was also Fionna, who had no intention of looking like the stupid water got the best of her. As she told Sette before, she HAD been to the Ice Kingdom constantly, not to mention been frozen by the Ice Queen a few times.

She bit her lip, breathed in and started to move her arms and legs, back and forth, biting through the pain and the cold.

Sette crested the river bank and sat herself down on the edge, shivering, still trying to rub her arms for warmth. She looked down at Fionna like she was the craziest person Sette had ever seen.

"You daft? Get outta the freezin' water!"

"I S-s-said I'd s-s-s-s-wim and I'm gonNA!" She yelled back, still circulating her arms and legs. True, her skin was definitely starting to get red now, and Fionna, who had stamina to spare, understood that even sheer will was not going to keep her in here.

She took one more lap then bounded out, shivering like crazy.

"N-nevermind. This s-s-stuff without clothes-s-s is bizonkers."
