Summary: A slumber party, but it seems the faerie that Nue and Sanae raised is gonna be causing some trouble

Fionna wrinkled her nose. Seriously, this is the worse slumber party ever. For something that was supposed to brighten her spirits they feel pretty bad.

"I'm not an embarrassment. I'm just not used to all these people and insults and junk. Where I'm from, if we fight, we do it with our fists, we don't start using demon powers or start calling people fat!"

She was listening, she was just annoyed about it.

"If you got demon powers ya should prob'ly use them, that sounds awesome. Anyway, first thing you gotta do's stop takin' everything so personal. Only reason I keep callin' ya fat is that it makes you jump higher'n a goosed ogre."

A pause.

"Well, that an' the fact that you could kill me by sittin' on me."

[fionna_time]

"I should kill you by sittin' on you," Fionna said grumpily. The truth was she could take any insult and laugh if Cake was here. It was a balance between the two of them, riffing on each other. Without that Fionna felt lost.

She sighed. "Kinda hard not to take things personal when you feel like you don't belong, you know?"

[swarmoflies]

"Nope. You gotta stiffen yer upper lip. Don't get mad, get even! Hell, get even-er! Show 'em you ain't to be trifled with!"

Please disregard how hypocritical this is, considering how riled up she got earlier.

"An' when you go in for t'insult, don't just shout something that'd make you mad. Shout somethin' that'll make them mad! Like, fer me, I got no idea why you get so bent outta shape about yer weight. But it works, don't it, so who cares?"

"I am no one to be trifled with!" Fionna said, though even saying it sounded weaker to her than it should. She usually was more sturdy, but with all she lost when she got here, it had been harder than she would have cared to admit adjusting.

Oh, Fionna remembered. If there was one thing to count on with Sette, it was that she was a big old bag of "do as I say, not as I do."

"There are plenty reasons why people don't wanna be called fat," Fionna protested. "For start, you see anyone else here who looks remotely like me?"

"Nope, but what's yer point? Embarrassed that you got a better bod than any other cove here?"

"A better bo-you keep saying I'm fat!"

"Well, yeah. Menfolk like their ladies with some meat on'm. It's a sign o' good health. The hell're you talkin' about?"

"Yeah, but there are all these girls here. So how does that matter?"

"Some o' me cozes, pisspots they are, spent weeks gorgin' themselves to get to be yer size so they could bring in more dosh. It just looks better. Only reason I ever went on about it is it drove you a bit mental, but even that's stopped having any enjoyment to it. Yer too easy a mark, I swear."

"It's still kinda weird for me. There are all these rules and different way peeps act. Where I'm from, I'm the only human, no pressure. Here there are so many different ways. It gets confusin. And why aren't there any girls that look like me anyway? What do these gals EAT?"

"Dunno. Mebbe they're like me, an' stay skinny as a rail no matter what they eat. Dwayne says it's on account o' me mettablism.

"Yeah, but I'm sure not everyone's got that kinda mentabolism. The queen musta done this to be a pain. I think she plays these weird trick on everyone in some way."

Sette shrugs. "Well, ya got me, but I'd be envious of yer hips if I was ever planning on shoving' a mini-Sette out through mine."

Fionna snickered. "Hey, I got pretty strong legs too! They're not just for pushing out babies and junk! Even if I'm chubbier than everyone, I'm still pretty strong!"

Granted, she was no demon.

"See, yer getting' it! An' that's lesson two. Whenever yer different, it's cause you're better! Like look at me teeth and me tail. Someone calls me a freak on account of em, I just laugh cuz I know that they're just jealous of how awesome I am."

Sette was kind of getting into this teaching thing. It was fun having someone to hold authority over, even in a limited sense.

"Yeah dude, I'm just still getting into the whole different from the get go thing. Wouldn't be so bad if I had my sis with me, but maybe that's a good thing. I guess I kinda had to do it alone."

She nodded. "Your tail is weird, but I wouldn't make fun of those teeth o yours. You could really give someone a killer bite with those!"

Sette grinned unnervingly wide. "Can and have done! I'm a killing machine I am!"

News to her!

"Really? Who've you killed, insects?"

"Well...not so much killed as such. Me Da keeps me on a firm leash there. But I've gnawed on more'n a few faces of coves who thought yankin me tail would be a good laugh."

[fionna_time]

"Yanking your tail?! Well no wonder you gnawed their faces off! That's messed up!"

Fionna...you are guilty of that too, lest you forget the bath incident.

"...ya know, you ain't all that innocent o' that youself."

"That was different!" Fionna insisted. "I wasn't doing it to be mean or funny. I was doin' it because you were being a pain!"

"Pain's pain," Sette said philisophically. "Me Da likes to say that when your night's good time turns up with a bun in the oven, it don't matter whether you raised the loaf on purpose or not. Either way, you've got some bread."
