Summary: A slumber party, but it seems the faerie that Nue and Sanae raised is gonna be causing some trouble

"...Wh-what are you thinking about?! I said one kiss."

"Beware, youkai, as the mind of a human teenager is a dangerous place~" Sanae giggled, going back to rolling around in Nue's lap.

The only thing that worried Nue more than Sanae's behavior was the idea of Sanae wandering around like this unsupervised, so she did something potentially stupid and wrapped her arms around her waist, holding her there. Her wings, likewise, folded around the two of them. "...If you say so. Look, I'm going to ask again: What's gotten into you?"

And just like that, she goes from "affectionate" to morose.

"What's gotten into me? What's gotten into you! ... Do you now love me anymore? Why are you rejecting me?!"

That was met with some sputtering. "Wha— I'm not rejecting you! B-but when you're acting so weird... You can't just expect me to go along with it like there's nothing strange going on!"

"Everyone is thinking we're physical, so why can't we be? Is that so weird? Is it because I'm a girl?" Sanae, please.

"...Ugh. Look, Sanae, you're acting really weird all of the sudden. It's kind of worrying me. And if I didn't care about you, I wouldn't care about that, right?" She flushed a little, but then went on without pause, "And it's fine if you want to do physical things, but you should do them because you want to, not because of what other people think, and frankly with the way you're acting now I think it's probably a good idea to wait and see if you still feel like this later."

"You... Y-you... You can't tell me what to do! You're not my mom!" That didn't even make sense...

"Wh... What? I should hope not." She made a face. "Look, could you at least tell me what you were doing before you found me?"

"I was playing with our child, Nue! Our child!" That... makes even less sense.

...Wait, what?

"...Sanae, our 'child' has been gone for weeks now. What are you talking about?"

And as if on cue, the fairy pops up on Sanae's shoulder, giving Nue her best attempt at an apologetic look. Sanae's inebriation? Her fault.

And just like that, her expression shifted from something perplexed to something...even more perplexed, and also a little incredulous.

"...Are you kidding me? This— This is ridiculous."

... And then Sanae's expression changed again. "Ugh... I feel sick..." The fairy gave Sanae a ginger pat to the head.

"Wh— Sick? M-maybe you should lie down, and then I can, um... I don't know, what's good for stomachs?" She still didn't move to push Sanae off her, though, evidently worried any sudden movements would upset her further.

"I have an idea... c'mere," Sanae beckoned Nue down to her level.

And Nue leaned over, thought her expression remained a bit dubious. "Yeah...?"

It was a trap. Sanae immediately grabbed Nue's face and attempted a kiss most passionate... if a bit sloppy. A lot sloppy, actually.

...She should have expected as much. Actually, on some level, she had, so the startled noise she made wasn't as startled as it could have been. She did return the kiss, but not half as enthusiastically as Sanae gave it, and it wasn't long until she gripped her shoulders and forcibly separated the two of them. "There. You got your one kiss, so can you settle down now?"

Sanae went into a mad giggle fit, still clinging to Nue. Her face was completely flushed, and her look was unapologetically perverse. She pressed herself close. Too close. She was practically breathing on Nue's ear when she whispered.

"Aren't you going to claim me? That's what you youkai do, right? You leave marks on your mated ones..."

"...Sanae." She tried to pull back, bringing her hands up to grip the shrine maiden's upper arms and hold her away. her voice was serious when she replied, "Listen. I like you a lot, okay? But you're acting really weird right now, and I don't want to do anything like that when you're not acting like yourself. Not kiss you or— or anything. So we can talk about it when you've calmed down."

The wind visibly left Sanae's sails, her previous look being replaced by one of total rejection. She seriously seemed to have tears in her eyes.

"Oh... Okay..."

"Sanae, stop." She leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek. "I love you, but you're really not acting like yourself right now. We can talk about it later, if you want."

"O-okay... M-maybe I should go lay down," Sanae whispered a bit, the fairiy nodding in agreement and giving her 'mother' a gentle pat on the head. Sanae wobbled a bit, leaning heavily onto Nue.

Nue gave Sanae a similarly gentle pat on the shoulder as she leaned against her, making no move to move her from her current position. "Okay. Do you want me to get up and let you lie down here?" She was trying not to fret too much, but she sounded concerned nonetheless.
