Alice and Battler

Characters: Alice Margatroid and Battler Ushiromiya

Summary: Two witches in a hut, surrounded by snow.
Warnings: Inevitable perverted Battler related shenanigans. Among the normal stuff for the event.

When Alice awoke, she obviously found herself in a not so familiar place. Even through her still half-asleep vision, she could easily tell this. Of course, she wasn't exactly staying in one place before, but she knew better than to stay in a place like this.

She knew something was going on, that much was obvious. After glancing about for a bit, the situation was a bit easier to figure out. She was in a small house, if you could even call it that, with not much in terms of anything. Just something to sleep in, and what looked like some facilities. However, it all looked much better than outside. There was snow, lots and lots of snow. So much that she could barely see if anything else was outside, or if there was anything else outside!

But Alice also noticed something else that was inside with her. It was someone else, someone vaguely familiar at least.

Instead of answering, Alice just grimaced at that. Whether it was about the subject or the words used, who knows. She just wasn't going to touch that issue.

The other one, however, did make her raise an eyebrow. To that, she plainly said "As much as I'd like to have something to eat, I really don't need it. I have long since abandoned the need for it."

"Ihihi, now you can't be like that," Battler said, shaking a finger. This was that anorexia thing, wasn't it?

"You're already skinny enough, you shouldn't overdo it. Nobody likes a girl who's too skinny either."

That was odd. This was not the response Alice was expecting. The fact she didn't really understand what it was that was said didn't help with her confusion. Skinny? Nobody likes a girl who's too skinny? What was this laughing red head going on about?

Alice had to ask. "What are you talking about? That makes no sense."

"You're not eating because you want to lose weight right? Still, you can't stop eating completely, that's bad for your health," Battler lectured.

Despite the fact that she was completely and utterly wrong and had no idea what she was talking about, she nonetheless sounded completely confident and secure in her absurd conclusion.

This feeling that she had not been felt for some time. The feeling of confronting sheer idiocy. Did she say something wrong back there? No, of course not. She was just dealing with someone who failed to notice what was being said.

Through a slightly annoyed voice, Alice spoke. "I am not trying to lose weight. Why would I even need to do that?"

She just chuckled, as if she understood something that wasn't being said.

"It's alright, you don't have to deny it. There's nothing to be ashamed of," Battler just shrugged; even as contradictory evidence seemed to be piling up, she clung to her strange belief all the same.

What was going on? She couldn't tell, but she knew her weight was not a shameful topic. Or her eating habits for that matter. She was not denying anything. This was slowly becoming ridiculous. "The only thing I am denying are your dumb claims."

"Heh, well, I won't push the issue. That'd be rude," Battler chuckled, though she'd already gone far past the point of rudeness by now.

"I guess we should focus on figuring out what we're supposed to do here. There's gotta be some kind of trick or goal to this, right?"

That was true. It would be rude. It has been rude. Not like she hasn't dealt with rude people every day.

A trick or goal? Did she think this was a puzzle of some kind? Inquiring about this should prove interesting. "What are you talking about? What possible trick could there be?"

"Sticking us in some weird room in the middle of a blizzard, with no food and no idea what's going on. It's like the premise of some kind of weird mystery, isn't it?" Battler pointed out.

"Or maybe it'd be more appropriate to call it a survival story."

"There is certainly a mystery here, but I don't think it's the kind you're thinking of." Alice replied. While it is a mystery as to why they were here in this situation, this did not seem like one that was meant to be solved.

"So what are you we supposed to do anyway?" Battler wondered, before noticing the single sleeping bag. "Ihihi, don't tell me we're supposed to climb in that thing together or something?"

Missing the possible intent of that laugh, Alice already had an idea. "If we consider our situation, I believe it's so we can keep warm."

"It is chilly, isn't it?" Battler agreed, before a dumb smile crept on her face. "Alright! If that's the case, I'll do my best to warm you up."

"Well, that seems rather nice of you. But would you be okay with that?" Alice said, likely coming off as some sort of clueless idiot.

"It's more than okay, I'd be happy to!" Battler exclaimed, perhaps seeming a bit too excited about it.

It was hard to miss the excitement in her voice. It was also getting harder to miss that something was feeling rather odd. More odd in addition to the original oddness.

"Aren't you... a bit too enthusiastic about that?"

"Ihihi, isn't it best to try to be enthusiastic about everything you do?"

She did her best to look as serious as she could as she said it, realizing she was perhaps appearing a bit too happy with the situation. But who could help it? It was a rather happy scenario.

"Well, there are things I may do that I wouldn't be all the enthusiastic to do." Was the answer. She really could think of a few things like that. Alice was getting the feeling her house mate was rather energetic.

"That's true, there are certain things you just can't get excited about," Battler agreed, deflating a bit.

But just as quickly she perked up and smiled once more. "But this definitely isn't one of those things~"

"You know, I feel like I'm missing something here." Alice said, with a hint of a sigh. Even the most friendly of people wouldn't get like this for doing a job of helping someone, right?

"I'm just happy to be of assistance!" Battler grinned, before suddenly glomping onto the other girl. If it wasn't obvious what her ulterior motives were before, it certainly should have been now.

Taken by surprise, this caused Alice to fall over. Still taken by surprise, her mind was racing to catch up to what just happened. A response came quick. "W...What was that for!?"

"Warming up, obviously! Wasn't this the plan?" Battler asked, still cuddling up against her without a care in the world.

"Plan? This wasn't part of any plan! Why are you doing this!" Alice said, her voice raised but she was still trying to keep it down. She had no idea why this was happening, in fact she probably couldn't put what this was into words.
