Alice and Battler

Characters: Alice Margatroid and Battler Ushiromiya
Date: December 22nd
Summary: Two witches in a hut, surrounded by snow.
Warnings: Inevitable perverted Battler related shenanigans. Among the normal stuff for the event.

When Alice awoke, she obviously found herself in a not so familiar place. Even through her still half-asleep vision, she could easily tell this. Of course, she wasn't exactly staying in one place before, but she knew better than to stay in a place like this.

She knew something was going on, that much was obvious. After glancing about for a bit, the situation was a bit easier to figure out. She was in a small house, if you could even call it that, with not much in terms of anything. Just something to sleep in, and what looked like some facilities. However, it all looked much better than outside. There was snow, lots and lots of snow. So much that she could barely see if anything else was outside, or if there was anything else outside!

But Alice also noticed something else that was inside with her. It was someone else, someone vaguely familiar at least.

Well, this was not what Alice was expecting. She had to take a moment to think out what to say, that was a lot to take in, after all. But before long she had her response. "If the door is not locked, we could leave, as you said. But I still believe it to be a choice. While we do not know where we are and can not see anything outside, there is the possibility that there may actually be something out there besides snow. The choice is not to stay or leave, but whether we want to live in moderate safety or risk our lives for the unknown.

But as I said, I don't need food. I was being literal when I said that. We only just got here really, so there may or may not be something happening later on, like some twisted form of room service. Although that makes me consider what we see outside is only an illusion and just this room is cold. As for the sleeping bag, I am slowly but sadly starting to figure out why there is only one."

"Ihihi, so that's the game they're playing at. It's like they're taunting us to go outside then, isn't it? Who wants to back down from a challenge like that.

"But you're right, this game has just started. There's no telling what'll happen in the future, so maybe we're just supposed to wait here for now," Battler agreed, before once again moving closer to Alice. "But we should at least stay warm in the meanwhile, right?"

Alice backed away a bit at the advancing Battler. She had reason to, after the last time. "I don't really consider it a challenge, so I guess I would be someone who backed down."

"True, there's still no point in going outside if we don't have any idea where we're going. It's not like we can escape this place and go home afterall, we'd just be escaping this place to go... somewhere else here," Battler agreed.

Noticing Alice backing away, she just grinned a bit. "What's wrong?"

"Besides, walking out there hardly sounds fun." Alice said, already sounding rather bored.

"You did sort of tackle me before." And that was the response to the other part.

"I prefer it in here too," she grinned a bit.

"So as long as I don't tackle, there's no problem?" Battler asked, her eyes glistening a bit mischievously.

Alice was now staring at the offender. There was issues of trust going on in her head. "So, what would you do if you can't do that?" She said.

"We need to share our body heat!" Battler replied, staring right back while smiling happily. "So I guess we just need to stick nice and close to each other, that's all~"

She did not want to give out ideas, but she had to make sure about one thing. She had to, ever since she was getting ideas about this place. "Are you coming on to me?"

Battler faltered a bit at that, flustered a little by the directness. She just laughed a bit uncomfortably, her cheeks tinging red a bit. She had been, there was no doubt, but being bluntly confronted by that fact wasn't something she'd been expecting.

"Maybe a little bit?"

"I'm not interested. Not only is this not the kind of situation to be thinking that, but you are also being a bit of a creep." Alice said bluntly. It was good to get things like that out of the way. She didn't want to mention how she enjoyed getting that kind of reaction. Catching someone off guard was great.

"Harsh..." Battler smiled weakly. It was one thing to be called that by Beatrice or others she knew, but being called that by someone she hadn't met to long ago was a bit of a blow. Not that she didn't deserve it though. "But then what else are we supposed to do? We might freeze to death like this, ihi."

And again back to that point. Now that she had a leg to stand on in this conversation, she could work things out better. "A different meaning and intention. While trying to stay warm is something we will probably have to do, it can be done without trying anything more."

"Alright, I get it," Battler replied, with a nod as her expression turned more serious suddenly. "No funny business, just keeping warm."

"I'm glad we could come to an understanding." Alice answered, now showing a small smile.

Of course, the two would probably disagree on what "just keeping warm" meant, but there was no reason to bring that up just yet.

"So we should stick close together, right?" she asked, inching towards Alice more slowly and with less exuberance than the last time.

Alice just sighed, that was true. Sticking close would be the right idea. She just had one more trouble on her mind.

"We should, but there's still one last thing. It would be rather sad if we died of boredom." She said, grimacing a bit.

"Heh, I'll make sure we don't get bored then~" Battler replied. "Boredom is the bane of a witch's existence, right?"

And with that said, she wrapped an arm around Alice's shoulder and pulled her a bit closer. For warmth, of course.

As she was pulled in, Alice couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. She didn't fight it, but she was prepared to. "Boredom is the bane of many things."

Battler scowled a bit at that. "But there are still limits to what you should do to relieve it."

"Like causing earthquakes just to get someone to fight you?" Alice said, looking away a bit. Boredom was a driving force in Gensokyo, but still.

There were few things that caught Battler by surprise, but that was one of them. She turned to Alice, her expression one of disbelief. "Ihihi, don't tell me you actually know someone who'd do that?"

Now that was an odd face to see. The quakes certainly weren't something that would normally happen, but it wasn't exactly something hard to believe. "Yes, I do. Not well, mind you. She's a pain and an annoyance. She's also here in these stupid gardens."

"So if we get any freak earthquakes, I know who to blame, huh?" Battler sighed, shaking her head a bit. "Ihihi, the people I was talking about could be worse though."

Alice had to think of worse. She said quakes as an example, but didn't mention any life loss from it. But it would be easy to guess that would be the case. So then, there aren't really many options left. "... Did they trap peoples souls into a jar and performed various forms of torture?"

It was sad that she could probably think of someone who could do this.
