Well, the weather outside is frightful

Characters: Everyone!
Date: Midnight the 16th of December
Summary: The inhabitants of the Garden get their reward for making out beneath the mistletoe, in the form of a lights show in the sky.
Warnings: N/A

In the dead of night, the Garden is dead silent. Without the sound of the city or urban life, only the noises of nature pervade the air. Crickets. Rustling leaves. The occasional footsteps of an animal.

However, tonight, at midnight, the silence is broken by a loud pealing of bells, rousing the people of the garden from their sleep. The bells continue ringing for nearly half a minute before falling silent. For a moment, the peacefulness of night returns to the Gardens.

Then the enormous mistletoe plant begins glowing, with a brilliant white light bright enough to be seen from all corners of the Garden. It fizzes, shooting off heatless sparks, and then bursts, shooting up into the sky and breaking into pieces of glowing light, forming various shapes. Above the Orchard, a series of hearts form, burst like fireworks, and reform. Over the Necessities, nymphs made of sparkling light kiss and dance through the sky, winking down at the people below. Over the ruins, flowers of multicolored light pop into existence and disperse. And above the Viridian Pavilion, fiery red phoenixes swoop through the air, burn out dramatically, and are reborn in a new cascade of light.

The show will continue until morning. Fortunately, now that the mistletoe's light has dispersed, it's not so bright that it should keep people awake.

Well, this is the best night ever. There is now a very excited eight-year-old running around and climbing things, trying to find the Best Possible Vantage Point.

And there was Vivio, smiling and just easily flying up to a rather high place. "This is great, isn't it!?" she asked, smiling over at Laura.

Then she realized that she was talking to Laura and frowned a bit.

"You can fly?!"

Important things first.

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[AWESOME]

Can you carry me?

[identity profile] uberlikehermama.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Laura not being a brat? Wow, what was...

You know what, she wasn't even going to ask.]

Okay!

[She's going to move closer to the other girl, holding out her arms so the other girl can grab on.]

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hey, Laura sometimes isn't bratty! Occasionally! It's not her fault everyone's so hard to tolerate!]

[And oh yeah, she is so down with the carrying thing. Though she does cling tight enough that, should Vivio decide she's feeling murderous (WHICH IS TOTALLY IN-CHARACTER. TOTALLY.) Laura's at least got a decent hold.]

[identity profile] uberlikehermama.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, okay. Not being a brat around Vivio then. XP

But that's alright, Vivio doesn't mind at all. She's used to sparring against people after all, so being held like this wasn't much of a problem.]

I'll make sure not to go too fast to start with, okay?

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[HELL YES THIS IS AWESOME OMG]

I'll be OK!

[identity profile] uberlikehermama.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, okay! Just let me know if I'm going too fast though!

[And with that, Vivio suddenly zooms forward in the air, flying over the gardens at a rather decent speed, even if it's not as fast as she could go.

If only because she never tried going as fast as she could go with someone in her arms and she wasn't going to start trying it now.]

[SQUEEEEEAL!]

Hey, can you go through the fireworks?

[identity profile] uberlikehermama.livejournal.com 2012-01-07 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
... You do realize how dangerous that is, right?

[Even if she could probably protect the two of them with a magical shield, she still wanted to make sure that Laura knew that.]

Claire squints, shading her eyes from the flashing lights to try to make out the small figure. When she recognizes it--

"Oh, Laura! Be careful up there."

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2011-12-29 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm always careful!" GAWD, Claire!

"Aren't they pretty?"

She just sighs, but in a fond way. All these troublesome children.

"They are, very pretty. I've never seen anything quite like it. Do you know what the celebration's for?"

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um... Christmas, I guess. Or maybe New Year's." Laura: has not been paying close attention to the calendar.

"You never saw fireworks before?" Oh, Kitty, you have been missing out!

"Are they holidays where you're from?" She pauses to breathe warm air onto her hands. "No, I haven't. I've heard of them, though, but they only really have them in the city. They're expensive."

[identity profile] runawayalot.livejournal.com 2012-01-06 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
She decides to hop down, landing a little heavily beside Claire and then dusting her butt off.

"Yeah. On Christmas you get presents, and on New Years the grownups all stay up late and drink champagne."

She grabs Claire's hand. "C'mon, I'll show you a good place even you can get to, so you can see 'em better."

"That sounds like fun. We have a celebration for the New Year, too, and everyone gathers in the meeting hall and shares food. There's dancing, too."

She lets Laura lead her. "All right."
