Characters: Lambda and OPEN
Date: Monday, October 10th
Summary: Gone Fishing.
Warnings: Should be none! This will be updated if anything comes up.
Notes: Feel free to help Lambda find a more...normal way to fish and/or teach her about other foods and/or help her cook things. ...Or just come and stare at the robot girl. That works too.
[It has been two weeks since Lambda arrived in the Gardens for a second time—and, therefore, two weeks since Norway taught her to make the one and only meal she knows how to prepare. The lack of variety in her diet does not bother her, though. Lambda has no concept of eating for taste, and she does not need to metabolize nutrients in the same way humans do, so even just lutefisk is enough.]
[She is in battle mode as she approaches the small river she has taken to acquiring fish from, but not because there is anything in the Gardens that makes her feel threatened. Rather, this is the only way she knows how to fish. The optic in the center of her visor focuses on the water as she reaches the edge of the stream, her sensors pinpointing the location of the fish easily. It's easy to calculate their trajectory as they flit under the surface of the water, so she extends her arm, and then—]
[—the air seems to open up, an energy blade zipping downward at just the right angle to cleave one of her targets in half. The surface of the water barely splashes from the disturbance.]
[With that done, Lambda leans downward and scoops the bisected animal from the water with her hands. Then, she straightens up again, intending to repeat the process as many times as she has to in order to obtain a satisfactory amount of fish.]

"...What are you doing?"
no subject
"Collecting fish for consumption."
no subject
"...Fishing, then?"
no subject
"Yes."

In all honesty, this has more given Kyoko an idea for the future than anything else. Fish is yummy, she has a kitchen now, and catching them with her spear would probably be easier than using a fishing rod.

"That's a rather...unique way of fishing," she said, coming up behind her.

"My data banks contain no information on conventional fishing methods." Of course, she was equipped with her own problem solving algorithms, so she made do as best she could with the tools she had at hand—hence the current spectacle.
no subject
She glances over at the pile of bisected fish.
"That does seem to be an efficient method, though."

Um, excuse me. Hello. What are you doing?
no subject
Collecting fish for consumption.
no subject
You're really fast. There's no way I could do that.
no subject
[With that said, she turns away from Xion and resumes her fishing. She doesn't immediately reply to Xion's other comment, but, eventually, she does speak up again.]
This method would not be efficient when performed by an individual lacking in comparative abilities.
no subject
Oh--yeah. I've never eaten fish before, so I wouldn't know how to catch them.
[they smell a little, too, but she figures she probably shouldn't say that.]
Are they good?
no subject
"Good"?

"You know, a fishing rod's the way most people do that." She grins. "Your way looks faster, though."
no subject
She looks down at the fish she has already collected, then back up toward Fang. "My problem solving algorithms determined this is the most efficient way to perform this task with the tools available to me."
no subject
And...whoa, those are definitely some complicated words happening. Fang tilts her head. "Right. So what are you fishing for anyway? This a hobby of yours?"
no subject
At Fang's next words, she tilts her head ever so slightly. "Hobby?" There's a quiet moment while she searches for the meaning of the word—an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation—and then she shakes her head. "No. I am collecting fish for consumption."
