[ Subaru had been looking forward to today. Is that odd of her? Probably so, but it couldn't be helped. She had tried so very hard the past couple of days to not worry about Katina out alone in the wilderness, just as the cyborg had promised, but there's only so much she can put off a feeling like that. Working out, doing maintenance, and exploration can only distract her so much.

Soon as she heard the knock at the door that late morning, Subaru set down her polishing rag and jogged through her open room door to open the front one. She smiled, taking one quick look at the woman's condition before greeting her proper. ] Welcome back, Katina.

Er... to be honest, she did come and blast me a little, but it wasn't as bad as what that monster did.

...I'm not holding it against her.

[Akiha's head came up.]

The monster took you too? It took Kris - right out of my bed in the middle of the night. What happened? She refused to tell me. You tell me.

[ Suddenly she wishes far more that she could get a hold of it. With a mech. ]

...guess attacking me is what made it angry. See, the lady at the well was giving advice that wasn't... what I did. Figure the dreams had something to do with it, given how opposed they were, and then... I was down there, and it was pissed, and uh...

It uh... [ Cough. ] It ripped me to fucking pieces.

[Akiha's eyes went even wider at that revelation and her hair turned vermilion. She then reached out to Katina to pull her to her in a possessive, protective... comforting hug.]

What...

[ The vermillion hair was no surprise, but... she was stunned for a moment in that hug. Then, she took a shaky breath, wrapping her arms around Akiha.

It wasn't that bad. She'd messed up after all, it had just... hurt... and she didn't even really intend to broach the topic with Akiha or Subaru. ]

[It didn't matter. Akiha loved Katina, even if she also hated her (okay, maybe hate was far too strong of a word for it when it was really she hated how Katina made her feel), and someone had killed the idiot.]

If I ever see it again, I will drain it from existence. Nothing harms those I love without dealing with me.

If it's smart, it'll stay away now that we all know.

[ Really, Katina was actually pretty angry now that she knew about Kris, even if she figured fixing her friendship with the mage would be harder than Akiha and Subaru. ]

It's the only way it'll survive.

[Akiha squeezed Katina once before letting her go. It took a few seconds, eyes closed, before she could settle down and her hair darkened.]

...yeah.

[ Akiha didn't hate her. Subaru didn't hate her. They both... still... cared about her that much.

She should probably talk to them both at once. ]

...you still haven't told me what you want from me. You've said that you want me, but not what you want from me.

What I want from you?

[ ...the honest selfish truth. ]

I want you to love me, more than anything, and I want you to... be more honest about how you feel.

I do love you. And I love Kris.

[Akiha is silent a moment before looking down, playing with her hair.]

I... refused to admit that to myself for a long time. I was afraid that my falling in love with you and her meant I didn't love Nii-san anymore. I had this stupid idea that I could only love one person at a time.

...don't you dare laugh at me about that.

[ Katina's head droops for a moment. ]

Why would I laugh at something a lot of people would think? Having one true love is... kind of the romantic ideal in, like, society.

...because it's a silly notion to believe that I was only to ever love someone who would never love me back.

I tried to kill him once, you know. Because he didn't love me back. If I couldn't have him, no one could...

So you're sure of that...

[ Though uh, that sounds worrying. ] That's pretty desperate of you. To go that far.

[Akiha waves her hand a bit dismissively.]

That was when I first inverted. I was far worse then than I was when I inverted on you. Though it was because of him I found a way to regain my control.

I can't even imagine what it would be like the first time that happened.

Horrific. [Akiha looked down.] I was mad with the power, hunting at night for days, attacking and draining strangers in the alleys. I didn't kill... if only because I wanted to be better than my brother.

Then Nii-san tried to stop me, and I tried to kill him. After I tried to force him to love me.

I am a monster, Katina. Never forget that.

[ Worse than anything Katina's seen by far. ]

...I've never forgotten what you are.

And yet you still love me. I don't understand it, and I don't think I ever will.

[Akiha sighed and looked up.]

One step at a time, Katina. If you really do want to be with me, you need to do it right. Earn your way to intimacy. As much as I might want your rough hands all over me, I respect myself too much to just jump back in bed with you.

Tch. You're still you on top of that...

[ Katina clenched her hand tightly. ]

I'm glad you've got that much self-respect.

You hurt me; I'm not about to forget that anytime soon. I'm not sure if I'm going to forgive you, either, because you made me think that you were mine.

...but the more you woo me, the closer I'll get to forgiving you. And I'm not kicking you out of my mansion. You're just not allowed in my room until I decide otherwise.

I'd like to be forgiven. I'll... work towards it, and if you never do, I won't be able to blame you.

...don't mess it up this time. I know I'm a horrible person to be in a relationship with, but... you did make me happy once upon a time.

[Which wasn't so long ago, but it felt far, far longer than it was.]
