Date: Today.
Summary: Rumia sets about to build her house, the effects of the current even interrupt her progress.
Warnings: None as of now, will change if anything happens.

Even though it was spurred by someone who had sought to destroy her living space, the half-snake maiden had decided it was quite the good idea to build a living space around her precious rock. Now, with a pinch of magic dirt in her hands and a grand design in her heart, Rumia begins the long process of setting up a life for herself. However, as things often go, the Queen seemed to have other plans...

"My, my. And what is the cute little half-monster up to today?"

And, once again, what Rumia likely presumed to be a private moment has been interrupted by a certain floating youkai girl. (Because, really, why bother walking when you can just fly around everywhere?) She had just been passing through, but of course she couldn't pass up the opportunity to say hello to one of her fellow monster girls. Nue moves closer, still hovering above the ground as she tries to get a better look at what the half-lamia holds in her hands.

Coiled on her long tail, Rumia turns around and greets Nue with a smile. "Hello! I'm trying to make a home for myself from this magic dirt!"

"The magic dirt, huh? I can't say I've used it myself, so good luck!" With that said, she straightens up. "Sound like you're doing something pretty important. Should I leave you to your business, then?"

"You can help if you want." The half-Lamia was never one to turn anyone away without a good excuse.

"Oh, but I wouldn't want to get in your way. I've never used this stuff before, after all!" Not that she particularly wanted to leave. It was just... "And, besides, I'm sure you know what kind of house you want better than I do. I certainly wouldn't want to mess anything up!"

"Awww... All right you can go if you want."

"I won't go far!" she assured her, waving a hand in front of herself. I'll just sit back and let you work without getting in your way, okay?"

And then, with that said, she moved to flit off to a safe distance away. Except she didn't get very far, because she ran face first into an invisible wall instead.

"—Oww!"

Suruga couldn't keep herself from staring at her. It may have been rude to do so, but it wasn't every day she saw someone's lower body replaced by nothing but a snake tail. She wondered if the girl was another kind of aberration, or just something else altogether? She was reminded of her own left arm, grabbing it with her right hand.

Simply walking up to her and asking would've been the sensible thing to do, however... The sight of a snake-woman was still pretty amazing, as Suruga continued to keep her eyes fixated on the figure.

Currently engrossed in the construction of her new home, it takes Rumia a few minutes to notice the fact that Suruga was staring at her. And even after detecting the other girl's sustained gaze Rumia, being the naive and sweet snake-girl she was, thinks no ill of the action in question.

She simply waves to her fellow garden-resident with a cheerful smile on her face. "Hello there!"

Suruga just waves in response, taking notice of the other girl's face. If nothing else, she certainly seemed friendly and approachable. Taking off after being spotted by her would've been pretty rude, so Suruga simply approached the snake-girl with a smile of her own.

"Hey! I hope I didn't interrupt you from anything important."

"Of course not! I was just trying to build a house for myself." Rumia sat coiled upon her tail as she spoke.

It was a pretty amazing sight, to see her "standing" like that. She looked so natural about it, too.

Suruga was sure to make Araragi jealous once she told him that she'd met a snake-girl, and a pretty cute one! "Eh, where have you been living up until now?"

With a smile Rumia points to the rock beside her. "I've been sleeping there since I got here. My mom said that's pretty common for all lamia and snakes."

"Really?" A rock? That's all she slept on?

No matter how Suruga looked at it, she couldn't help but feel that... "I apologize for saying this, but that doesn't seem comfortable at all."

"I'm more used to sleeping in a bed." Rumia explained in a clear manner." But, when I was searching for a place to live after my mom went missing I took to sleeping on rocks and in trees at night."

"Why was that?" She wondered. "Could it be that finding a place for yourself was harder and took longer than you thought?" Suruga really had no idea how snake-women were treated in Rumia's world, after all.

"Most people see me as a monster, until I was able to prove otherwise they tended to treat me very badly." Rumia sighed. "It made finding a place to live very difficult."

It was unfortunate, but Suruga could understand why the other had been treated that way. Hopefully, those days were over for her now! "Not to worry, I wouldn't ever decide to treat you that way!" How could she, when her own left arm was still...

"Thank you. It is nice to not be hunted or attacked at first glance." Rumia spoke with a smile. She was telling the truth. Aside from one isolated incident, which in itself was a the result of a misunderstanding, she had not been attacked at all.

"I can imagine! Well, I'll let you keep working on your home. If you'll excuse me..." Suruga would've left, had an invisible barrier not stopped the former basketball star dead in her tracks. "Eh? Oh, goodness, this again?"
