these long summer days

Characters: Any of the characters participating in the party.
Date: Backdated to July 15th.
Summary: To apologize for the incident with the phantoms, the Queen puts together a party for all the inhabitants of the Gardens.
Warnings: IT IS A PARTY what could go wrong. (But just in case, if something occurs in your thread, please let the mods know and we will update this.)

For some days now, denizens of the Gardens may have been wondering what it is the Queen had in store for them after the phantoms had finally dispersed. Perhaps they may have been aware of the sound of hammering and construction that seemed to float on the air from no specific direction. Today, however, the sounds seem to have mysteriously ceased, and at some point, each of the girls and women will receive an invitation, written on pale yellow paper in deep pink ink that seems to shimmer slightly with certain angles of light:

You are cordially invited
to the Summer Festival!

Where: The Crimson Pavilion, near the northwestern edge of the Gardens
When: The 15th July

Please enjoy the food, drinks, and music!
And, of course, the company of friends.
I do hope you won't be disappointed!

Love ♥
The Queen of Hearts

Asking the cats for directions, or simply heading toward the northwest of the Gardens by oneself, will eventually lead one to the aforementioned Crimson Pavilion — an enormous outdoor party tent, similar to the Viridian Pavilion in scope and size. The Pavilion is strewn with drapes of crimson gauze that shade its interior slightly from the sun, and delicate flower-shaped lights wind around each of the tent poles, producing a faint, sparkling luminance. Colorful flowers are strewn across every available surface, and a sourceless music floats on the air, an upbeat melody seemingly designed to compel one to dance. And all over the tables are food and drinks in every variety one could possibly imagine, though the overarching flavors and themes seem to remind one of summer days and tropical islands.

The drinks, especially, are very good — though perhaps one should be a little careful. There is, as they say, too much of a good thing.

[ Notes: The drinks, as one might expect, have a few side effects:

Pineapple juice compels characters who drink it to feel as if they cannot help but be honest about their feelings toward other characters. If your character has a crush on another character, or has fallen in love with her, she may not be able to resist the desire to confess her attraction.

Orange juice creates feelings of happiness and contentment. This can range from an unnaturally strong sense of giddy joy to a more calm, relaxed state of well-being. And, of course, your character may be compelled to share her feelings with others.

Fruit punch induces a desire for intimacy, whether that be holding hands or cuddling to making out and more adult activities for adult characters.

Of course, there might be other drinks with other effects, as well, and the drinks may be mixed to create multiple effects. There are also drinks that are just drinks without any special properties.

Have fun! ]

Hey, how did you know that?!

...It's easy to guess, huh? I guess I should say thanks? I don't think you can really help since you said you were no fighter and all. Not your fault, but uhm, it's appreciated?

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome?

Um, I can fight. I mean, I could probably spar with you if you wanted, but I think you're a lot stronger than me.

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'd not mind a spar, at least it'd be something.

Don't worry about strength, I'm used to hold back somewhat. A duel has to be fair.

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-18 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
If you're sure. We're friends, so I don't want you to be unhappy. And I should probably practice.

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Tenshi still wasn't really used to the whole friend thing, but she was a Touhou character, and so was quite prone to just going along with it]

See! Needing practice is even more reason to do that sparring, no?
mnementomori: (Default)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-18 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's true...I walk around the Gardens a lot, but I'm not really sure how to ask people to practice with me.

[and she'd really rather not go back into those monster-filled caves again.]

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. What works for me usually is getting people angry at me so they attack me full force. You could try that...

...you're probably a bit too nice for that, though.
mnementomori: (Default)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-18 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I remember you saying something like that...

[was that what Tenshi had tried to do when they first met? not it kind of makes sense.]

W-well yeah, it just seems a little mean and kind of...dangerous. But if it's just for practice...

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I did, yes. And it's dangerous, that's really the point!

I guess for your sake, practice can be less dangerous, if you insist...

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-19 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I wouldn't want either of us to get really hurt. Then it's not really fun, is it?

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-19 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I like if my opponent is really trying to attack me properly. I don't need to do so back at them, though, that's fine with me.
mnementomori: (Default)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-21 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it's hard to understand why anything dangerous would be fun. Aren't you scared of getting hurt?

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. [Tenshi pondered, then pondered some more. The question seemed to be mystifying her.]

...Not really, no. Should I?
mnementomori: (a⒩d ⒤f t⒪ m⒤ss,were)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-22 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Is it because you don't think it'll happen, or being hurt isn't scary?

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
A bit of both, really. I'm a celestial, so I'm really very durable and can take hits most others couldn't. So really, don't worry, I survived worse, like Yukari going on a rampage on me and running me over with a train.
mnementomori: (were useless as ⒩ext m⒪r⒩⒤⒩g)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-23 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[it must be nice, not being afraid. In comparison, normal people break so easily.]

Oh, that makes more se--a train? But they're huge!

[though Tenshi doesn't look flat, so that's a relief.]

Yes, the gap hag... well, has gaps. Like gaps in reality, and she can make things come through them. One of her ways of attacking people she dislikes is running a train through one gap and back through another. It hurts a lot to get hit by that, that's for sure.

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-24 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Gap hag...ah, I remember you talking about her. That was Yukari, right? I guess she disappeared...

So like...portals...

I-it sounds like it hurts. [she winces.] I'm glad you're okay.

Indeed. In fancomics, Tenshi gets run over by these a lot.

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that was Yukari. She did disappear some months ago.

Errm, thanks? I can survive it just fine, see, I'm tough!
mnementomori: (❛twas⒩'t l⒪ud,f⒪r he sa⒤)

she certainly is durable.

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-24 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's too bad...

Ah, but...yeah. You really are tough. I wouldn't last through anything like that.

Must be that thick head of hers. Wait...

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It's quite alright, really...

Well, you're not from Gensokyo, right? So you don't need to do anything like that or last through it or something. It's how stuff is handled there.
mnementomori: (the abse⒩t ↦myst⒤c↤ crea)

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-07-26 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Gensokyo is your home, right? It's true that I learned that people from different places are all different, but it feels like your world is on a completely different level.

LJ is being STOOPID.

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-07-27 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
It is, although I technically live on an island far above it. And it really is on a level of its own!

[Tenshi seemed to consider that a compliment of some sort...]
mnementomori: (Default)

:< it liiives. finally.

[personal profile] mnementomori 2011-08-01 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
So your island here is like your island at home? It's your magic that makes it float, right? [she tilts her head a little, thinking.] I've flown before, but I've never stood on something that's flying...could I come visit you sometime?

NECROMANCY

[identity profile] peachhat.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's my magic. And sure you could come visit, there's stairs made from floating rocks that you can use to get up. It's at the lake. Wouldn't mind showing you around~
