There are two types of human beings in this world: the divine, and the demonic.
Characters: Akiha Tohno and Katina Tarask
Date: 1/30
Summary: Akiha's willpower finally breaks and she inverts... on an unsuspecting soldier.
Warnings: violence, blood, and a forced kiss (no death!)
The days had begun to wear on Akiha, straining the limits of her tremendous amount of willpower. Too much had happened recently, starting with her discovery of what provided the blood in the Lake that she'd been sating her bloodlust with. She'd stopped drinking all together, not even partaking of the freely offered blood of her magician. Then Kohaku had tried to take her own life and Akiha had to divulge secrets to her maid she hadn't wanted to. But Akiha was tired of the lies. She was just... tired. And her blood stirred.
Encountering the supposed 'Queen of Demons' several days earlier had her blood running hot. She could feel her inversion impulse beating against the back of her head, pounding in her chest. Akiha should be in her mansion, should be taking heat and blood from Kris, and calming down. She should, but she was stubborn. She hated her Tohno blood and resisted it. Yes, it was her pride causing this...
She wandered the Gardens, restlessly, as she was moving more on instinct than on intellect right then until she came upon a towering mechanical creation. Standing in its shadow, Akiha looked up at Katina's 'doll' and sneered. What a worthless waste of energy for something that would never work. What was so special about it that the lieutenant had dedicated so much time to it?
Without hesitation, Akiha climbed up on the thing. Perhaps she would understand the point of having it here if she got a closer look. In reality, she knew she shouldn't be touching it, much less climbing on it, given it belonged to Katina. There was no love lost between them, but she ignored the internal warning to avoid this place.
But maybe part of her just wanted the confrontation that would come from this...

Of course, luck for Katina is usually just enough to keep her alive and nothing else, and it reverts in a hurry. Even if her Gespenst doesn't work, she's been keeping an eye on its condition, not wanting it to fall apart at a bad time, like when someone was climbing on it, like someone was just then.
Akiha. She knew that slender, long-haired girl anywhere, even if it meant that she was paying way too much attention to her. "OI! Dammit, get down from there! I swear if you break anything I'm climbing up there and shoving you off the top!"
no subject
"Did you not make it sturdy enough? You spent so much time, wasted so much time, on this useless thing," Akiha sneered. "Is your construction so pathetic that it would break so easily?"
The girl then climbed up a bit higher toward where she figured the cockpit was based on what little anime she was subjected to at school. Clearly, she wasn't about to just jump down on Katina's command.
no subject
Huffing, she started looking around her feet for a good sized rock. She doesn't want to start shooting, but maybe a warning rock would get her down.
no subject
She climbed over a bit, parallel to her position, and something relatively small fell off in her wake. Was there a bit of a smirk on her face as she watched the piece fall? Perhaps...
no subject
Finally finding a good rock, a bit smaller than a baseball, she wound up and sent it sailing upward. It wasn't good enough aim to hit Akiha dead on, but it would be within a few feet.
no subject
Akiha got a good handhold on the mech and hung one-armed from it for a moment before dropping down quite a ways to land on it's leg, foot braced in a joint at the 'knee' area. She half crouched, now close enough that the pilot might notice the off look in Akiha's eyes. If Katina was able to see past her anger, that is.
"How did you earn your rank?"
no subject
This time when she stood, she managed to throw it well enough to hit Akiha in the leg if she didn't move. "I'd like to see you do what I've done!"
no subject
This time she jumped all the way down landing solidly on the ground - a distance a 'prissy bitch' shouldn't have been able to manage. This close, her hair was still dark, despite that earlier flash. But that was because of the sun, right?
"And what, pray tell, did you do? A foolish act of valor against the aliens without disregard for your own life, staring 'death' down as you claim you do? Or did you kill one of your kind in a patriotic act?"
no subject
It didn't change Katina's bravado, and she stepped forward, arms crossed again. "Before all that! All the training and education it took to become a test pilot! I doubt you'd last a week in basic without whining about not having any servants to wait on you hand and foot!"
no subject
Akiha's eyes fell half lidded when Katina stepped forward. She could practically smell how the blood pumped through Katina, stirred by her anger.
"I assure you, the blood of my family runs in the veins of those that command your military's actions. You may be a lieutenant, but you're also a puppet to those better than you, with more potent blood. Tell me, how does it feel to know your eventual death will not be one of your choosing? You're nothing more in this war of yours than a pawn to be moved around the board of space and sacrificed for something you have no control over."
no subject
"Do you really think I haven't thought about all of that?! I know my place and I've known it for years! I know I'm probably gonna die young, dammit, but I've already saved lives with my own and I'm gonna keep saving lives, and I'm not gonna regret a damned thing as long as I get to be a cog in a machine that protects humanity!"
no subject
"No one remembers one martyr among a thousand. A hundred thousand. Your name will disappear with the ash your body will become. I think you lie to yourself, Katina. You do fear the moment that you'll be faced with something you can't handle. You fear the moment your blood flows freely and you feel your grasp on life fade into the nothingness this doll of yours represents."
Akiha ran her tongue over one of her canines as she looked Katina over, the pounding of her own blood as it coursed through her crying to be released almost deafening. "Pity that such a fine form belongs to a near-rabid dog. If you didn't need such a sound beating to know your place, I'd favor you. For a short period of time, that is."
no subject
Damn that look. What was wrong with Akiha? What the hell was she trying to do? "Save your compliments."
no subject
Her eyes moved from the taller woman's mismatched own to focus for a moment on her neck before looking back up. There was a distinctive inhumane look in Akiha's cold, cold blue eyes as she wrapped on hand so casually about Katina's wrist. She didn't dig her nails in, but there was an unusual sharpness to them that wouldn't be missed to someone who probably had a knife held against her at some point in her life.
The girl started to laugh then. And it wasn't the laughter one might imagine a teenage girl would let bubble forth. No, it was the eerie laughter that one would associate with a sociopath or someone who had just gone... too far and lost their appreciation for human life. Her lips curled up as her hair blazed a brilliant vermilion color as the wind blew it. Suddenly, the laughter cut off and Akiha tightened her grip, the temperature in the air about them increasing enough that there was a mirage-like shimmer about them.
"And what is that little voice telling you now?"
no subject
The look in Akiha's eyes, though, was something altogether surprising, even more when she started laughing. Katina knew evil laughter after all the maniacs she'd fought in the past, but... everything about Akiha was coming together in a terrifying whole, and now her heart was racing as much from fear as anger. She knew how to hold it in, but that didn't mean that she didn't feel it. "That... that you're terrifying... and that I'm screwed."
no subject
Akiha's grip tightened on the pilot's wrist, her nails biting in but not breaking the skin, as she stepped forward - mostly to see if Katina would step back.
"Now what am I going to do with you?" There was a laziness to her voice that contradicted the sharpness of her gaze and how she took in everything of the woman in her grasp. "It's been months since I've had a chance to stretch." Her free hand comes up to caress Katina's cheek.
"She tries so hard to keep me contained and shackled by her willpower. But I'm always there... watching all of you... whispering in her ear. I know she hears me, feels me, every time you and her bicker like children. And she never let me have a chance to play with you. So proud, so self-confident, so hot-blooded, so... delicious."
no subject
"D-delicious...?" She shook her head. "So... who or what am I talking to? You're talking about 'Akiha' like she's... you know, not you, and... and..." No, take a deep breath. Calm down. "You're... some kind of inner demon...?"
no subject
"Yes... Delicious. Such emotion, you have. I'm sure you're a fine vintage indeed," she said, eyes drifting down over what she could see of Katina. "I am AKIHA," she said, saying the name with a slight difference in inflection than any other time the girl's name was said. Those blue eyes snapped back up to lock on Katina. "I am her... she is me." A soft snort as condescension dripped from her next few words. "Or she would be if she wouldn't fight me so much."
Now her laughter was sharper. "I cannot tell you how irritating it is to be that repressed child day in and day out, denying her urges and the call of her blood. It's so much more freeing to be what I was born to be. And you... I just could not wait any longer for you."
...oh whoops
Despite her fear, she locked eyes with AKIHA, still exercising her bravado. "So you're... like the real her. Or part of the real... Akiha. For some reason or another, she holds your half of herself back... so what the hell are the two of you then?" Maybe she should just be trying to stay alive. She could ask Akiha later... maybe.
S'okay, keeps the thread easier to read...
"Or how someone feels or the discipline drilled into her as a child so she would be able to hold me at bay. What you see, what you fear, is the impulse laden in her blood that refuses to be denied. I exist across the line that has always been drawn. If I have my way, that line would be erased completely. But it doesn't matter, my beautiful, succulent prey... the sands have covered it and now I have you."
If Katina wanted a better answer than that, she would have to ask Akiha when she was in control again. Her inversion impulse loved holding her superiority above the pilot.
no subject
Just like she'd said, she really, truly did not want to die. "S-so... a demon or whatever you are has me in her hands... I can't fight you and... I can't get away. What are you going to do to me?" Hopefully, it wasn't something like ripping out her heart or tearing out her windpipe or just leaving her to bleed out. If anything, those seemed far too concise, though nothing was stopping AKIHA from killing her slowly.
Where was help at a time like this?
no subject
As for the question of what she was going to do to Katina... AKIHA leaned forward, her breath felt on Katina's skin, and languidly licked up the curve of the woman's jaw all the way to her ear. "I'm going to feast upon you and have what I've been denied for weeks."
She the pulled her head back and gave a sadistic smile that gave hint to a certain sharpness in a pair of her teeth. "But I'm going to have a little fun. What joy is there in you just submitting to me? Oh, I admit, having you on your knees before me--" Is Katina quick and alert enough to not have her feet suddenly kicked out from under her as AKIHA pushes her down to do just as she said? "--begging for your life would be melodious, but you... you're not just any prey. You have fire in you. You have fear in you."
no subject
That lick broke some of Katina's nerve. She cursed in her head as she actually shivered at the tongue moving across her skin, having to shut her eyes for a moment to regain her composure. There were those fangs, so close to her, and AKIHA could have easy just ripped into her neck, but instead she had to taunt Katina.
Normally, the pilot would be quick enough to react, perhaps even turn it around, but she was far too thrown off her game to have a chance. She let out a shout as she dropped to her knees, staring up at AKIHA, trying not to think too hard about what the girl might do to her. "Why... why don't you just take what you want and stop screwing around? C-Come on. You're... wasting my time."
no subject
She'd just forgotten how intoxicating this power was to hold in her hands and the madness she'd taken into herself when she killed her brother.
"Oh, I will, but I want a little sport in it. There is a certain... satisfaction in the chase." Her hair moved a bit more in the wind and the heat mirage increased enough to make it seem like the air was rippling. Her hand moved back up Katina's chest to trace the swath she'd licked. "Should you reach for a weapon, you will lose that hand. Permanently."
And then she let go of the pilot's wrist and sharply cut her nails down the length of Katina's neck to draw blood.
"Now run little rabbit~"
no subject
Katina was increasingly afraid as well, her tough front being chipped away at by the simple knowledge of how utterly powerless she was on her own. AKIHA could make her bleed whenever she liked, tell her that she'll take a hand off and make it a promise instead of a threat.
She stood slowly, taking a few steps back. "...wh-what if I decide to... not humor you. Just... stand here instead?" she responded slowly, having to muster courage just to get that far.
no subject
There was a flatness to those words that was perhaps even more terrifying than anything else when combined with the change in AKIHA's expression. The sadistic pleasure faded away until her face reflected the inhuman iciness of her eyes.
She then brought her bloodstained fingers to her mouth, tongue snaking out to wrap around them and finally taste Katina's blood.
no subject
"Hope... I h-hope you're good and... w-warmed up..." Katina stammered, completely failing to taunt anything before turning and bolting as fast as her legs would carry her, blood pounding in her ears, senses ramped up their peak. Her fight-or-flight instincts had settled fully on flight.
no subject
What an apt comparison.
Though, Katina was running, AKIHA walked in an unhurried pace after her. A few seconds later and something seemed to wrap about Katina's ankle and pull back, accompanied by a searing sensation, not unlike the kind of burning one would feel after grabbing dry ice.
And yet, when Katina looked at her ankle, she saw nothing about her ankle despite the feeling that something was.
no subject
As recklessly as she was running, there was no compensating when something tugged at her ankle, sending her flailing to the ground. Her ankle slammed into a stone, tearing open a gash, but the shout that escaped Katina was surprise and fear, the pain going unnoticed in the face of being grabbed and tripped by a burning nothingness. "Fuck... fuck fuck fuck..."
no subject
There was a mocking quality to AKIHA's voice as she continued to steadily close the distance between herself and Katina. The grappling, burning sensation seemed to slip away, leaving the pilot with her own pain, as the demon approached.
"And such language... Am I going to have to wash your mouth out with soap?"
no subject
This was it, she was caught, AKIHA would do whatever she wanted to Katina. She was already bracing herself, or trying to brace herself, for pain, for torture, for taunting, maybe for death. It didn't matter what she said or did. "Akiha! A-a-are you in there?! Come on, please, I know we've... we've had our differences, but I know you don't want this!" Begging was almost physically painful for her, but if it was her last line of defense against a monster she'd damn well take it.
no subject
Knealing down, AKIHA put a hand to Katina's chest to hold her to the ground and that same icy burning sensation wrapped about the pilot's primary arm, immobilizing it. Slowly, all the crimson hair seemed to settle, to fall down to rest over Katina's body as the demon leaned down.
"On the contrary, Katina... she does want this. She'll just never admit it." And that would be when AKIHA moved quickly to seize Katina's jaw and kiss her, tongue with the taste of blood on it immediately moving to invade the other woman's mouth.
No... no... Akiha would never admit to having wanted this.
no subject
Katina laid there, trying to not give away her terror any more than she had. Her breathing was starting to come in gasps as AKIHA pressed her against the ground, her arm immobilized even if she did want to fight back. "Wh-what... does..."
Before she could even figure out what she was trying to say, she was being kissed. Kissed. She tasted blood - her own? - as AKIHA forced a kiss on Katina. Katina didn't resist, too surprised and fearful to do anything but lay back and let herself be kissed, but she wasn't kissing back either.
no subject
Somewhere, deep in the back of her mind, behind the madness and the bloodlust... this possibility bothered her. The fight in Katina was one of the more appealing things about her - not that Akiha would ever admit it. She didn't like the pilot, that was for sure, but the attraction was there deep down. And this lack of reaction bothered her.
Breaking the kiss, those blue eyes stared into Katina's for a moment before flat words were issued.
"I expected more from you," she said. "How disappointing."
A heartbeat later, AKIHA shoved Katina's head back, bearing her throat, and her teeth sunk into the woman's neck. Her mouth flooded with hot, fresh blood and she began to drink.
no subject
And she was cut off again, but this time by a loud gasp as fangs sunk into her neck. Finally, at least, she was taking what she wanted, and maybe she'd be satisfied with this. Aside from shuddering breaths, Katina was deathly silent as AKIHA fed, her warmth flowing into the demon's mouth. Her heart hammered in her chest, feeding the the rush of her own precious blood. Katina raised her free arm, giving a weakened, useless shove, a token resistance as she was drained, wondering just how greedy the demon would be.
no subject
The taste of the blood, feeling it slide down her throat as she drank, was divine. She'd gone over two weeks without a drop of blood and she craved it. More and more and more, the unique taste of Katina filled her mouth and brought warmth coursing through her body, raising her naturally low body temperature once more to that of a normal person. Some of it slipped past her lips as Katina gave that pathetic shove. That small display told AKIHA that somewhere inside the pilot there was still fight, and her lips turned up in a smile that was easily felt against Katina's neck.
But she didn't stop. She continued to drink... and drink... and drink...
stop NO. you will kill her soon SO BE IT. we don't kill NO, YOU DON'T KILL. you will cease now I WILL DO AS I PLEASE.
YOU WILL CEASE NOW.
With an internal hiss, AKIHA released the bite leaving Katina on the verge of unconsciousness and stared down at her as the pilot's blood slid down the demon's chin.
no subject
...then that started to fade a little. It wasn't just adjusting either. She could feel herself starting to grow lightheaded at first, as though she'd donated blood. Nothing unusual, and if AKIHA stopped there, she'd be fine in a few days. But the demon wasn't stopping; that lightheaded feeling was slowly turning to dizziness, her neck growing numb. AKIHA was going to keep going, and her eyes shot wide open in fear, her struggle renewed with what strength she had left, for a moment, as she realized that maybe she wouldn't get out of this alive, all of her blood slurped down by this monster.
Black spots roamed in front of her eyes as her arm dropped, nearly giving in to her lack of strength when AKIHA broke away. Katina couldn't focus on her, blinking her eyes a few times to try and get a better look. "Finished...? Please..." Her voice was small, but more even than it had been.
no subject
"It seems I cannot obliterate that line, no matter how much I want to." For as much as AKIHA had wanted to keep feeding, to drain Katina dry until there was no life left in her, Akiha would have none of it, mustering up just enough willpower to make herself stop.
"Your tithe has been paid, my dear Katina. I will send someone to see to you, lest too much of your delicious blood stains the ground." She leaned close again, her voice dropping to that flat, tone once more. "If you are wise, you will keep your silence or next time I will take your tongue as well as your blood. Understand?"
no subject
She nodded weakly at AKIHA's demand. No, she wouldn't have to ask anyone else about what happened - she was going to go to Akiha directly, no matter how many threats the demon made. The side that didn't want her dead was strong enough, apparently, so she had to hope that it stayed strong. "Gotcha. I like... my tongue... where it is."
no subject
Those last two words, whispered as she pulled away from Katina and stood, almost, almost sounded like Akiha's normal voice. But it was a fleeting moment as the demon walked over to the Vine and activated the mirror, leaving Katina laying there as her blood continued to drip down her neck, and disappear before help would arrive.
