There are two types of human beings in this world: the divine, and the demonic.
Characters: Akiha Tohno and Katina Tarask
Date: 1/30
Summary: Akiha's willpower finally breaks and she inverts... on an unsuspecting soldier.
Warnings: violence, blood, and a forced kiss (no death!)
The days had begun to wear on Akiha, straining the limits of her tremendous amount of willpower. Too much had happened recently, starting with her discovery of what provided the blood in the Lake that she'd been sating her bloodlust with. She'd stopped drinking all together, not even partaking of the freely offered blood of her magician. Then Kohaku had tried to take her own life and Akiha had to divulge secrets to her maid she hadn't wanted to. But Akiha was tired of the lies. She was just... tired. And her blood stirred.
Encountering the supposed 'Queen of Demons' several days earlier had her blood running hot. She could feel her inversion impulse beating against the back of her head, pounding in her chest. Akiha should be in her mansion, should be taking heat and blood from Kris, and calming down. She should, but she was stubborn. She hated her Tohno blood and resisted it. Yes, it was her pride causing this...
She wandered the Gardens, restlessly, as she was moving more on instinct than on intellect right then until she came upon a towering mechanical creation. Standing in its shadow, Akiha looked up at Katina's 'doll' and sneered. What a worthless waste of energy for something that would never work. What was so special about it that the lieutenant had dedicated so much time to it?
Without hesitation, Akiha climbed up on the thing. Perhaps she would understand the point of having it here if she got a closer look. In reality, she knew she shouldn't be touching it, much less climbing on it, given it belonged to Katina. There was no love lost between them, but she ignored the internal warning to avoid this place.
But maybe part of her just wanted the confrontation that would come from this...

But maybe part of her just wanted the confrontation that would come from this...

Akiha got a good handhold on the mech and hung one-armed from it for a moment before dropping down quite a ways to land on it's leg, foot braced in a joint at the 'knee' area. She half crouched, now close enough that the pilot might notice the off look in Akiha's eyes. If Katina was able to see past her anger, that is.
"How did you earn your rank?"

This time when she stood, she managed to throw it well enough to hit Akiha in the leg if she didn't move. "I'd like to see you do what I've done!"

This time she jumped all the way down landing solidly on the ground - a distance a 'prissy bitch' shouldn't have been able to manage. This close, her hair was still dark, despite that earlier flash. But that was because of the sun, right?
"And what, pray tell, did you do? A foolish act of valor against the aliens without disregard for your own life, staring 'death' down as you claim you do? Or did you kill one of your kind in a patriotic act?"

It didn't change Katina's bravado, and she stepped forward, arms crossed again. "Before all that! All the training and education it took to become a test pilot! I doubt you'd last a week in basic without whining about not having any servants to wait on you hand and foot!"

Akiha's eyes fell half lidded when Katina stepped forward. She could practically smell how the blood pumped through Katina, stirred by her anger.
"I assure you, the blood of my family runs in the veins of those that command your military's actions. You may be a lieutenant, but you're also a puppet to those better than you, with more potent blood. Tell me, how does it feel to know your eventual death will not be one of your choosing? You're nothing more in this war of yours than a pawn to be moved around the board of space and sacrificed for something you have no control over."
no subject
"Do you really think I haven't thought about all of that?! I know my place and I've known it for years! I know I'm probably gonna die young, dammit, but I've already saved lives with my own and I'm gonna keep saving lives, and I'm not gonna regret a damned thing as long as I get to be a cog in a machine that protects humanity!"

"No one remembers one martyr among a thousand. A hundred thousand. Your name will disappear with the ash your body will become. I think you lie to yourself, Katina. You do fear the moment that you'll be faced with something you can't handle. You fear the moment your blood flows freely and you feel your grasp on life fade into the nothingness this doll of yours represents."
Akiha ran her tongue over one of her canines as she looked Katina over, the pounding of her own blood as it coursed through her crying to be released almost deafening. "Pity that such a fine form belongs to a near-rabid dog. If you didn't need such a sound beating to know your place, I'd favor you. For a short period of time, that is."
no subject
Damn that look. What was wrong with Akiha? What the hell was she trying to do? "Save your compliments."

Her eyes moved from the taller woman's mismatched own to focus for a moment on her neck before looking back up. There was a distinctive inhumane look in Akiha's cold, cold blue eyes as she wrapped on hand so casually about Katina's wrist. She didn't dig her nails in, but there was an unusual sharpness to them that wouldn't be missed to someone who probably had a knife held against her at some point in her life.
The girl started to laugh then. And it wasn't the laughter one might imagine a teenage girl would let bubble forth. No, it was the eerie laughter that one would associate with a sociopath or someone who had just gone... too far and lost their appreciation for human life. Her lips curled up as her hair blazed a brilliant vermilion color as the wind blew it. Suddenly, the laughter cut off and Akiha tightened her grip, the temperature in the air about them increasing enough that there was a mirage-like shimmer about them.
"And what is that little voice telling you now?"
no subject
The look in Akiha's eyes, though, was something altogether surprising, even more when she started laughing. Katina knew evil laughter after all the maniacs she'd fought in the past, but... everything about Akiha was coming together in a terrifying whole, and now her heart was racing as much from fear as anger. She knew how to hold it in, but that didn't mean that she didn't feel it. "That... that you're terrifying... and that I'm screwed."
no subject
Akiha's grip tightened on the pilot's wrist, her nails biting in but not breaking the skin, as she stepped forward - mostly to see if Katina would step back.
"Now what am I going to do with you?" There was a laziness to her voice that contradicted the sharpness of her gaze and how she took in everything of the woman in her grasp. "It's been months since I've had a chance to stretch." Her free hand comes up to caress Katina's cheek.
"She tries so hard to keep me contained and shackled by her willpower. But I'm always there... watching all of you... whispering in her ear. I know she hears me, feels me, every time you and her bicker like children. And she never let me have a chance to play with you. So proud, so self-confident, so hot-blooded, so... delicious."
