Nausicaä and Ibis
Characters: Nausicaä and Ibis
Date: December 22nd
Summary: Nausicaä and Ibis are apparently snowed in together.
Warnings: None come to mind.
Nausicaä came awake with a slight start. It was early morning - she usually woke early and today was no exception - but something was very wrong. She hadn't gone to sleep inside of a small stone hut. She sat up, taking in her surroundings. Really, she ought to be used to this sort of thing. After all that had happened in the last few weeks, she hadn't thought there was much this Garden could do to surprise her.
She could hear the howling of wind and one quick glance outside showed that there was a storm gathering - and getting worse, by the looks of the thickening snow. She frowned to herself and turned back inside. There was another young woman in here with her and she needed to check on her. Fortunately, Nausicaä knew her already.
"Ibis? Are you awake?"

"Ibis? Are you awake?"

"Hmmm? Yeah, I'm awake now."
Wait a second, why was Nausicaä in the same room she was? And why didn't the room look like the one she fell asleep in? Okay, now she was startled.
"W-Whoa!" was all she could manage at the moment. Words would come later.

She glanced toward the restroom, "...and in there, obviously. You don't remember arriving here, do you?"

Snow. Snow everywhere. She had never seen so much or it come down so hard. Even though she had grew up in New York State, the climate had changed too much to put this much stuff out of the clouds.
She shook her head in reply to Nausicaä. "I definitely don't remember falling asleep here. But...with nothing, what are we supposed to do?"
no subject
She pressed her lips together, thinking. "...we might want to just go look very quickly, while we still have strength. It'd be better then trying to wait it out and then realizing we're not going to make it."
no subject
"Yeah, it will have to be quick. Can we find something to use as a rope though? I think I learned about this in survival training. You use the rope to find your way back because you can't see that far."

Nausicaä paced to the door, staring at it as if it would produce answers. "I know you're not wearing much. I can go out alone. It might be better that way."
She was fully prepared to do it on her own if it meant ensuring Ibis' safety.

She wasn't super resolved behind the matter, mostly because death wasn't hovering on the edge. Ibis started to stretch her arms and legs to show that she was at least preparing to go. If Nausicaä was going to go out the door, so was she.

She tightened her flight helmet down and turned her collar up. Her gear was designed to withstand cold, but snow gear it wasn't. She glanced at Ibis with a little smile. "...if you're that determined, I don't think I can stop you. But... if it gets too bad, let me know and we'll come right back. Alright?"
no subject
She tugged up her boots in emphasis. "Besides, I can take solace that I won't be getting snow on my feet. At least that's a bonus."
no subject
"Here. It'll be better than nothing." She shouldered the door open and began tying one end of the line off. "We'll spend a while out and then come back. Food doesn't do us any good if we freeze."
no subject
"You think we will have to do any digging. If there's food buried under the snow, it'll be difficult to find."
no subject
She frowned, "...really, I'm not sure you're going to do well out there."
It was probably a pointless argument. Ibis seemed set on coming along.
no subject
"How about...I stand by the door and keep an eye on the line? At least that way, I can be a safety backup or come inside if I need to."
Sorry! Holidays ate me.
You're not the only one it happened to ._.b
