Out On The Range

Who: Anna Lin and Larry Vincent
What: Testing a new pistol on the firing range
When: Sometime this week
Where: Near Rally's Workshop
Why: She had earlier asked Larry to make one. But Larry isn't letting her have it until she proves she knows how to use it.
How: Prose leading to action spam.
Warning: Guns and two people with fucked up backstories.

[Unknown site tag]Anna examined the pistol.

Nine caliber, 19 round clips made from conjured gunpowder and lead. Right-handed grip. Decent-sized barrel. Semi-automatic.

Her trigger finger was on the barrel of the gun at all times while she was examining it, a habit she had trained into her for six years.

She brought it up, took her sight and aimed.

And it hit a target on a haystack, two rings from the center, to the right.

"Sights need adjusting," Anna said. But she was grinning.

Larry nodded in approval, looking just as pleased. Anna had good general gun safety, kept her trigger discipline, had a basic idea of what gun she was using, and... not a bad shot. "That's what they all say," she teased, looking down at the weapon.

"I'll take a look at it, then." It was probably true anyways - this wasn't the most precise way to make a gun. "How's the balance?"

"Gooood..." Still not as good as her CZ-75 and blah blah blah. "Grip's good? All the mechanical parts seem to be working great, so there isn't a whole lot left to do to it."

She shook her head. "If you gave me the raw materials, well... I'm still not good enough at the really hard stuff, so I'm lucky I can just imagine the details like the rifling and have it happen." That's a matter of raw experience, for the most part.

"Yeah, but it'd be a currency based on... effort. And that Yakumo woman could probably just teleport in all the dirt she wants." As much as some kind of currency or barter system might be good, it would be way more arbitrary than real money.

"Favors at least... yeah, that'll do. I won't be asking for much in return myself, but I can use it to get things for myself or others at least," she decided. Fortunately, she liked her job enough to not need much compensation if any.

That brought a smile to her face. "Ah, well, my dad taught me almost everything I know. Olympic shooter, expert gunsmith... I pretty much grew up with guns." And a mom she kind of hated, but that's not important.
