[ Though there are a number of ladies playing organic instruments, Mugi has set up her synthesizer just off-stage with the intent of providing a bit more depth to the orchestra. A little brass here, some drums there, and even some organ bits interjected here and there where appropriate.

It's nothing like the school play was, so she's taking in everything with her usual wide-eyed wonder. ]

[Akiha takes her violin off her shoulder and shot a glare over at Mugi.]

Must you use that thing?

[ She looks over from her sheet music. ] I don't think I'm going to be able to memorize this all before the show!

[ritsu_kouyou]

I suggest sticking to the keyboard and leaving the other instruments to those that play them traditionally.

[golden_gaytime]

...but that is what I've been playing.

[ Headtilt. ] ...ah, you mean you don't think the instruments were working very well? I agree. I've been trying to find the right tones to go with the others.

I mean, use that as a piano and not false brass or others. This is The Nutcracker, not Jesus Christ Superstar.

A ballet, not a rock opera.

[She ran her bow across the strings for emphasis.]

There's only one set of sheet music for piano, though, and Akira-kun is already using that!

Then I suggest putting that keyboard down and selecting a different instrument.

Ahh, I would, but I don't know how to play anything else. Not well enough. [ Smiling. ] I'll try to pick a better tone to use.

Practice makes perfect.

Or you could see if Akira knows another instrument and you take the sheet music.

I don't think I'll be able to learn a new instrument that quickly!

I didn't say pick up something new. You said you knew how to play other instruments, just not very well.

I'm very sorry, but I had meant to say that I can barely play any other instrument. I'll find some way to work myself in, don't worry.

[ Of course, now that she's engaged Mugi in conversation, she won't be rid of her that easily. ] Have you been playing the violin long, Tohno-san?

[...not as planned. Her bow hand stills and she fixes Mugi with her glare.]

That's wonderful. You're quite skilled. I'm surprised at the lack of sheet music, though... you must have learned to play these pieces in that time, is that correct?

Tchaikovsky is a classical staple and any violinist of skill knows The Nutcracker by heart.

It's convenient, considering how this show sprang up out of nowhere.

At least it gives us something to do. Something more productive that allows those of us with culture to enjoy ourselves.

I think it's a wonderful way to get everyone to work together.

[ Looking around, Mugi recognizes quite a number of faces. ] ...although I wonder who all will be left to enjoy the show as an audience.
