Poor, poor egg.
Characters: Katina and Akiha
Date: April 6
Summary: Katina and her eggbaby look for the other mommy.
Warnings: Ill-tempered women.
Crying is not the thing Katina expected to be woken up by. If it's not an alarm clock, then it's usually a headache - occasionally another person, but half the time she has a headache when that happens anyways. But crying, oh no, this is not what she expected at this point in her life.
It takes her about ten minutes to wake herself up, find the eggbaby, and realize that holy shit she has to take care of a crying egg with a face. The next ten minutes were spent trying to comfort it, and failing miserably until she realized the obvious - it was crying for another 'mama'. If she was wrong, of course, she'd at least get outside, but childcare? Generally seen as a thing couples do.
Her mood was already dark from frustration when she realized what she was heading towards as the cries lessened. Of course. Grumbling as she stomped up to the door of Akiha's mansion, she slammed her fist against it a few times, already at the point where Akiha could jump out the window in full-on demon AKIHA rage and it wouldn't faze her.

Grumbling as she stomped up to the door of Akiha's mansion, she slammed her fist against it a few times, already at the point where Akiha could jump out the window in full-on demon AKIHA rage and it wouldn't faze her.

"The mansion is not as big on the inside as it looks on the outside. I have only made a quarter of its actual size. The sound filters terribly easy through the halls at times," Akiha replied. "But Lambda is paired with Kris so she will probably be following that idiot around constantly."
A pause and she looks back toward the hall with a rare moment of concern. "I hope she doesn't try to eat the egg." Kris did think with her stomach first.
no subject
"Yeah, I noticed the size. I guess the high ceilings and stuff don't really help either, though, so hopefully Lambda knows to take care of the egg and stick with Kris." aka the idiot. Idiot this, idiot that, she's starting to think it's mostly just a term of endearment from Akiha.
"You know I thought about eating it myself, but I don't think it'd be a good idea."
no subject
Akiha leaned forward to look the egg over again, still not touching it. "It must be weird for you to think about eating something with an emotive face. Even one as absurd as this one. Animals don't have the range of expressions as humans and others do."
no subject
"Eh, honestly that might be what stopped me. It's not like a fish or something where it's just dead, and people still make a big deal out of it. Even if the faces are kinda weird, cows don't normally make human expressions, so..." She looked down at it. Damn her moment of hesitation.
"I figure something bad'll happen to people who don't take care of it though, knowing this place."
no subject
"Most likely. The Queen is far from civilized. Forcing us into relationships we don't want, having to rely on those we dislike... If she wants us all to be one big happy family, she should've chosen her captives more carefully."
Akiha sneered. "And to think, I'd once had her in this very room for tea. In your chair, nonetheless." The chair bit was added in to see if it'd get a rise out of Katina.
no subject
It really didn't matter much to Katina, actually. Anyone could tell that Akiha was more fed up with the Queen on the whole than with Katina, even if Katina was more routinely annoying. "I guess teatime isn't the best way to make friends with crazy magical kidnappers, huh?"
no subject
With that tirade, one would wonder why Akiha puts up with Kris' constant laziness.
"And I'd thought tea and civility would get some answers out of her than demanding them." She waved her hand dismissively. "There was music involved, so don't ask me why I thought there was a chance. You know what she told me when I asked her why she took us? Because we're 'better off' here than in our own worlds."
no subject
Katina sighed, letting out an annoyed sigh. "Ha. Yeah, maybe one or two people here really are better off, but she's got a pretty twisted idea of better off. Even if a few people do fall in love, she still took 'em away from their friends and families and lives. There's more to life than cheesy-ass romance."
no subject
"And I'm only going to say this once; you can't compare yourself and Kris. You both irritate the hell out of me in different ways. She just makes up for it. You, on the other hand, have no ingratiating or endearing bone in your body. You're all rough and uncouth." Kris was very sly; she just didn't look like it with all that... simplicity.
no subject
Katina just nodded as Akiha went off on her little tangent, letting it sort of wash over her. Sorry, but she's a lot less bothered by it this time, for a variety of reasons. "Alright, alright, so there's nothing ingratiating or endearing about not being a lazy bum. Maybe I'll just try dumping this thing in your lap and falling asleep on the floor here."
no subject
has a Charisma of 22grew on her and, well, she'd said it before. People just don't fall in love with girls like Akiha."Do that and I'll set it by you and go on my daily walk, leaving you here," she snapped back, picking her book up once more. For a few seconds she ignored Katina, focusing on the book, before adding, "Besides, sleeping on the floor is a good way to catch a cold."
no subject
"Yes mom," she said in a mocking tone. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna dump this off on you now that you've actually let me in. Just because I'm kind of an asshole doesn't mean I'm a complete one."
no subject
Not that Akiha was sweet. Okay, sometimes she was; she did make a small copse of trees for Kris since she wanted to see the momiji turn the color of Akiha's vermilion hair in the autumn.
"The one with the money."
no subject
"Not that having money means a damn thing here though. What if I go make my own mansion?" Not that she'd want a mansion, way too much effort to keep it looking nice inside and out. But she totally could.
no subject
"Besides, you're bizarrely more fitting to be an eggmom; you grew up with a mother," Akiha replied. She then looked down at her book for a moment before sighing. "Look. I'll... tuck it into bed before I retire for the night. Will that suffice for now?" It took Akiha a while to warm up to anyone. Or anything.
no subject
Katina leaned against the table, looking across it at Akiha. Of course coming from a traditional family would give her a little more experience. "Hey, I'm older too. A lot of women my age are intentionally having kids." As opposed to teenagers accidentally having kids. "So it'd be great if you could just do that."
no subject
Akiha's room was on the second floor, West Wing. Far more than fifty feet away. Seems someone forgot about their invisible no-cry zone.
no subject
"Uh... you can try, but remember how this thing started crying just from you walking away a little bit? I think those rooms have to be farther apart than that." Maybe they should get out a tape measure.
no subject
"...you are not sleeping in my room."
no subject
Katina patted the top of the egg. "Otherwise, I'm gonna be in your room one way or another."
no subject
"And even if there was, my bed is still too far from the door. We're not moving my queen-sized mahogany four-poster canopy bed into my anteroom." Akiha ground her teeth and glared at Katina. She did not want the pilot anywhere near her bed. For several reasons. Mostly the privacy and pride reasons, though.
"Tch." She tossed her hair over her shoulder and walked over to look out the window. After a long moment of glaring at her own eyes in the glass, she came to a barely acceptable solution. "You can sleep on the davenport in my anteroom. It's marginally better than the floor."
no subject
She sighed, accepting that for now, though. "So I'm getting put on the couch. I haven't even really done anything yet..." Honestly, after all her time in the military, even on a fairly comfy ship like the Hiryu, she could sleep anywhere. That didn't stop her from bitching about it though.
no subject
And then how would she get to sleep? Between a fussing egg and a snoring Katina, Akiha was worried she'd get very little.
no subject
"And I don't snore, so you won't miss out on any beauty sleep. I'll just curl up on your little couch and try to get comfortable."
no subject
Besides, if she made a room next to hers, Kris would want to move into it. Akiha wanted her privacy and distance.
"You'll make do; you're a soldier. Aren't you supposed to be able to sleep on rocks in the dead of winter with nothing but a think blanket?"
