Everything is a matter of interpretation to some extent. But good construction less so.
Naivety is not a choice. When chosen, it is no longer true innocence and becomes an affectation. Humans are often ruled by their instincts, although they tell such pretty lies about it--but I'll admit that their lies do set them apart.
Where I am from, there are a number of races that have the power of affectation, though most here do seem to be human, or humanlike.
